But if Dahlin is gonna be as good as we all think, then i don’t think he NEEDS to play with another star

In the examples i gave, those teams were all loaded on defense- so of course great players will be matched up

If we were to acquire Trouba, or another guy of his caliber, I’d want him on the 2nd pair & not with Dahlin
That way we’d have 2 good pairs
I’m all about balance in the lineup

for Salary Cap reasons, i think we should spend that $$$ on scoring forwards

we have a good handful of talent coming on defense, and not much at forward

Trouba would be a sexy addition for sure
But looking long term,
I wouldn’t construct our roster that way
I’d prefer a guy like Manson with Dahlin
He’d be a solid partner & cost half of what Trouba would

There are, of course, different ways to build a roster
Do we need Trouba? YMMV, but it would without a doubt be the best pairing we've ever had. Even if they don't play together, then you're looking at 2 different top-pairing guys on different pairs. It would be absurdly good

Sam is not physical enough to play nhl playoff hockey.

Of all of the players in trade discussions on this board, I'm the least worried about him haunting us.

I don’t see the point of the advice of the peanut gallery. I am self absorbed and am not ashamed of it. This is a message board and people come here to bicker. Some people like to defend their view points. At this time last year I said we should of traded Scandella and got laughed at so I patted my self on the back. I was way off in saying that Mittelstadt would be a 50 point player in this league and have admitted that several times. It spurs good discussion, people are passionate about their respective viewpoints.
