Nice post but avoided how he has HURT the team. Get over the contract lol - Nighthawk
It's kind of hard. You have to admit that is a fuken horrible contract. It has taken three years half the contract to fulfill one years expectations.

It's undoubtedly a terrible signing. I don't however think it hurts the team.
The cap hit is a non issue with half of our best players still on ELCs, and sticking him in the press box is easy. He is still a pretty decent PKer and you can always limit his ice time when he is in the lineup. - NorthNuck
Complete bullsh*t!!
He also occupies a roster spot that could be used by someone much younger. I would have played Schaller over him every night. Again, that this needs to be explained to you just means that you're not a real fan. |

It probably has to do with how easy the fan base gets influenced by the troll media. - VANTEL
Process of elimination Now Botch randomly picks another guy. |

He did have options. He even said at the start of last year we probably won't make the playoffs. They knew what they were doing.
He has said a few times this year though we will get a top 6 guy and young Dman. - VANTEL
Idk of any RHD that could be had that would be a major help for us. The trade market has been real tight these last few years & why i didn’t see much happening. |

I mean if all you're worried about is the teams pride taking a hit for having LE on the team then I don't really see it as a problem.
Yes he's garbage but we have plenty of corners to shove him in until his contract is done, it's not a big issue at all really - NorthNuck
we have a brand new core, majority of players under the age of 24. You have a 33 year old in LE, and you have a 29 year old in Antoine Rousell, both considered "veterans" and to an extent, maybe even leaders.
I can tell you right now, points and AAV aside, there is one player I want leading by example, and one that I don't want the kids to even sit next too lol. |

I stand corrected, the Roussel signing was a good one in my opinion. So there’s two. Beagle is just ok, didn’t hurt the team, or help it, as a player, good locker room guy apparently but you don’t overpay guys to be good locker room guys. - Pacificgem
Wrong, Beagle definitely helped the team, same with Roussel, Schaller would be a just did ok, but at under 2 million seriously there is no reason to complain.
Is this where I'm supposed to say "but I respect your opinion but agree to disagree"? |

Put him in Utica if you're worried about that. I know I hear a lot of complaining about half the players on our roster in here so I'm not sure who you think he is blocking from developing properly, Goldobin? Gaunce? Boucher? I think most would agree LE is a better player than Schaller to be honest
The cap hit is in fact a non-issue. We have more cap space than the size of his contract so clearly we're not intent on spending to the ceiling.
You know it's the post season when the worst thing people have to complain about is re-hashing the Loui Eriksson debate |

The Eriksson contract alone should reason enough to fire Benning. I hope that's Gillis's first move. |

the second you stop pencilling in roster projections, ill let go of my hate for LE and his contract, deal? - Codes1087
My penchant for rosters is only based upon needs & who might fit in. Its an exercise to see how it looks. I’d bet every GM does the same with current rosters on their depth charts. Going for UFA’s or trades would be no different. Hate LE & his contract idc i’m not going to let it worry me til it hurts us. |

I understand what you were getting at but it was brutal and has left a bad taste in a lot of fans mouth about ever signing another big UFA signing.

hes an unmoveable/tradeable 33 year old pylon who is signed for 3 more years, is the highest paid forward on the team, essentially has a contract that is buyout proof, and the best we can do is bury him on the 4th line or press box in a best case scenario. No matter how you spin it, that signing is awful. - Codes1087
Seriously, why do you bother? |
