They also could have called no penalty as many have suggested. - VANTEL
Which would've caused as big if not a bigger outcry after the Sharks best player left the ice with blood pouring out of his head |

I don't care who we pick since I trust JB to make sure that it's a good pick. |

JB picking Macann, Boeser and Pettersson where he did makes me trust his choices. JV was forced on him imo by idiot ownership. |

Phil Kessel?
Nothing says rebuilding for the future like acquiring a Phil Kessel. |

Discussion topic, anything to take away from the extremely riveting draft analysis, well maybe for an hour or so.
Ok probably not |

Agree Mcphee did an unreal job putting that club together love them or hate them. But yes cap issues are abound. - LordHumungous
Most clubs have somewhere between 18 - 24 players with legitimate NHL level talent. Under the expansion draft, Vegas was given 30. And not just scrubs and has-beens like previous franchises. Based on what teams could protect, they were allowed to to pilfer a top 6 forward or a top 4 defenceman from pretty much every team in the league.
Under those circumstances, even Benning and his lousy pro scouting crew could assemble a better roster than what the Canucks have now. |

Burakovsky would fit a need but I can't imagine we want to pay to acquire him |

Philip Broberg has bookended his season with a tremendous Hlinka and now a very strong U18s.
That’s a good way to endear yourself to scouts/GMs who value age appropriate best-on-best competition.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see him go in the top-8 this June |

I did say most clubs. He was a top 4 d-man for the Canucks at the time (that's how bad we were) and McPhee did select him. So.... |

Just seen Boys of the Hood director John Singleton died from stroke age 51 . Can never figure out why some go and some stick around forever. No rhyme or reason. |

Not really. A lot of GMs were stupid and gave up way more just to not have someone selected. Things like:
Anaheim Ducks: Defenseman Clayton Stoner. The Golden Knights also receive defenseman prospect Shea Theodore.
Florida Panthers: Forward Jonathan Marchessault. The Panthers also traded forward Reilly Smith to the Golden Knights for a 2018 fourth-round pick.
Columbus Blue Jackets: Forward William Karlsson. The Golden Knights also receive a 2017 first-round pick, 2019 second-round pick, and the contract of David Clarkson.
New York Islanders: Goaltender Jean-Francois Berube. The Golden Knights also acquired forward Mikhail Grabovski, defenseman Jake Bischoff, a 2017 first-round pick (No. 15 overall), and a 2019 second-round pick.
Pittsburgh Penguins: Goalie Marc-Andre Fleury. The Golden Knights also receive a 2020 second-round pick.
Tampa Bay Lightning: Defenseman Jason Garrison. The Golden Knights also receive rights to forward Nikita Gusev, a 2017 second-round pick, and a 2018 fourth-round pick from Tampa Bay.
And they also chose a bunch of poopty players, like:
Vancouver Canucks: Defenseman Luca Sbisa.
Chicago Blackhawks: Defenseman Trevor van Riemsdyk.
Colorado Avalanche: Goaltender Calvin Pickard.
Toronto Maple Leafs: Forward Brendan Leipsic.
Better players than other expansion drafts? Hell yes. But for the good of the game, you can't have a $500 million dollar team in a brand new market be the worst of the worst. |

Goldobin Granlund and/or rights to Tryamkin, would be all right with me, although he is paid too much for what he brings. IMO |
