Not that i disagree with this line of thinking, because I do get what you're saying, but an RNH trade means swapping cap hits. Assuming its some kind of 1-for-1 with Risto, the cost to the cap is 600k for two more years. Emphasis on two, since hayes would be getting a brand new deal, which the bulk of would come out of his prime. - Sabresfan-365
So you would be ok trading for RNH who will be a UFA in 2 years and by then could be asking for $8m and will be two years older?
I'd rather sign Hayes now for $6m. He's much bigger and stronger than RNH. Would not cost any assets to acquire. Also, comes from the same hometown as our #1 center which could be a positive for both players. |

Taco you have to post a better link or save the image and re-upload it Swear it’s like reading through a book
But anyway I never said I was killing for RNH he’s meh to me but cheaper and younger - gerbe75pts

There really was nothing there that is suspension worthy
He is the biggest POS in the league but if the league suspended him for that there would thousands of clips sent into the league from teams daily.
A fine does no good there either cause whats $5,000 to him? - Stripes77
I would have been ok with only a fine. A fine would go on record. |

Yeah if RNH is good enough during the two years he's here to warrant asking for 8 mil at the age of 28/29, we're probably a contending team and nobody complains.

If it is seen by an official during a game it is a minor penalty
Nothing more, nothing less - Stripes77
If it was the first time we'd seen him do something like this, sure that's all that is needed.
He's going to keep doing it if he gets away with it. If the league actually wants to curb this kind of behaviour and even as I'm typing I realize how ridiculous that sounds so nevermind. |

Who produces more?
RNH has 4 50 point seasons one of which was a 69 point season
Hayes has 1 50 point season a career high of 54 points
points per game average:
Hayes .5984
RNH .7087
I get your points about having to give up assets and such but at the end of the day I want the player that produces more |

I also don't think the Oilers have any interest in trading away forwards. Their forwards are almost as bad as our forwards, and RNH is one of the only good ones. I don't see how it's a fit, unless they wanted to swap RNH for Reinhart.

After seeing RNH was 6m I don’t want him
That means in 2 years will have to give 7.5
So basically you’re signing Ryan O’Reilly again But is nothing like him

So in 2 years you're paying someone 7.5 million against a cap that will be 84 million by then which will be 8.9% of the cap
But ROR was counting for 10.5% of the cap when his deal was signed
Please stop comparing deals that are going to be signed in 2 against deals that were signed 3 years ago |

This is a good point
I think the Sabres missed their chance to rob the Oilers when Chirelli was still employed |

God you're bad at this
2019-2020 and 2020-2021 season he is under contract
His next contract will kick in for the 2021-2022 season
So he has 2 more season (starting next season) left on his deal |

I know we don't trade with Toronto. But would anyone do Jake McCabe for Andreas Johnsson? Each team has a major need fulfilled. |
