I like the idea of Foote as well, but think it would be near impossible to get him out of there.
The 3 old guys on D are all UFA'S and each over 32, providing much needed Cap space of $11m to sign Point and pay the increases to Gourde and Kucherov.
They need to backfill those D spots with young, cost controlled players, to which Foote is one of them. Risto and Callahan are a relative wash, Nelson fills another D hole cheaply.
Cirelli at 21, with 100 games under his belt is ready to break out after a season of 19/20/39.
I'd like him on Sabres, but decided to use his attractivenesss to be a major piece in getting the 2 out of LV and providing the Knights with cap space they need as well. - IonSabres
Risto 43 points for $5.4M
Callahan 17 points for $5.6M

Welcome to Buffalo, where everything we have sucks. |

Why people think we need to take Callahan back in any deal is stupid also, who says Risto is getting traded and if he will go to the Bolts. Tampa's problems are Tampa 's problems, we don't need to take Callahan back or any player like that to make a deal. |

Hey, try reading better.
Wash, as in Cap space,
Relative meaning the difference between them isn't significant when looking at contract values of $5.0+.
But you do you. |

Yes, he had a difficult year.
I'd be fine signing another stay at home partner for Dahlin on the short-term until their cap space opens better after next year. |

That’s why you would take him |

I stand by it.
It's 1 friggin year, then the Cap space is incredible.
Meanwhile, the combined deals fill 3 of the middle six and allows them to save on Girgensons contract over the next 12 months and beyond.
Callahan, while old and playing as 13th F produced better than Girg's did playing 82 games.
He is still a leader and could be an important voice in the locker room so obviously devoid of good leadership.
The net of the deal brings in about 50 G's at the expense of a defensively liable Dman, who btw is now redundant on the PP with Montour.
The time to deal Risto is now...his value IS declining and will accelerate when he is getting 50% of the PP points he had. So, count on him generating mid thirtysomething rather than mid 40's. |

Bingo.
Some can't see the forest through the trees.
And Foote isn't going anywhere. They need his ELC to fill out their D when the walk from
Coburn, Girardi and Stralman. |

Some can't see through the SMOG that Callahan is done and Botterill won't throw money away. You can argue that point all day long with me. |

So, Adam Fox to the Rags for a 2nd and a conditional 3rd. I would like to have been in on him but not sure I'd part with the late 1st for him. What say you guys? - PrinceChill
Fox is a very nice player but I think he has said no to two teams and you can get a bad rep fast doing stuff like that. We have some nice dmen in the system right now and I would even say that I prefer Laaksonen to Fox at this point. |

I mean you said that last year about ROR Nothing against you but he’s been here for 6 years doesn’t listen to the coaches anymore ... has not improved this is basically his calling he’s done trade him before teams realize he Hit his potential |

No, you're right, we don't need to. But this is what we do here. We pine for players to trade, trade for, make offers we think sorta make sense, and apply cap dumps to sweeten deals. So no, no one needs to really make any offers. But we do, because we can, because America. |

we didn't have all the power.. the player pretty much asked to be traded in public and everyone knew it. on top of that i believe JB was told to trade him before we had to shell out the contract bonus which put a tight time frame on it.
How did we have all the power? |

We had all the power a contract Bonus means very little to Terry Botts thought he got the best offer but he got taken and that makes me worried if he actually wanted those players or if he was sold on them |

Sabres have interviewed Tippet and are interested in interviewing Keefe according to Friedman. Also said with Bogo’s surgery that Risto moving isn’t a guarantee. - Pegullaville
I'm kind a meh on Tippett. His defensive style here won't work imo. Although he did nice work with both Dallas and Phoenix so who knows.
