I heard that the entire coaching staff is returning for next season. You have got to be kidding me! I thought for sure Dan Muse would be gone after the dismal power play this past season. They'd better get it fixed quickly or heads need to roll!!

Not much to discuss. That means Poile is on the hook if he fails to address it and FIX it. Pretty simple..

I think the results of last year and this year seemed to have taken the sheen off Poile. For every Erat/Forsberg trade, he has ten that amount to zip. And the way Jones is playing for Columbus, we were robbed in that deal.

I agree, the buck stops with him. I was skeptical of making any big deals at the trade deadline because I, like many others, didn't feel like they were a true cup contender. Simmonds and Granlund were an absolute bust! Boyle was good pick up. My gut feeling proved to be right.

I didn't think Simmonds would be any help, maybe if it was 2007. Granlund could still be a good one, he did well in MN, I think this highlights how badly coached we are. He was a stud on their PP, practically disappeared on ours. I did like Boyle. And I'm happy we didn't give up Tolvy or others at the deadline, but the window is closing fast. Since the cup run, we've won two divisions and a President's trophy yet completely whiff in the playoffs. It really makes me think the cup run was a fluke.

I like Simmonds, but it became obvious early on that he's too slow at this point of his career to play in Lavy's offense. He had a couple clear breakaways during his short time here, where the Defense was able to close in on him before he barely crossed the blue line. He'll be better off with somebody else next year. I still think Granlud can be a decent player if he's paired with the right line mates. It's hard to judge a guy who was stuck playing with Kyle Turris and a painfully inconsistent Craig Smith for most of his stint here. He could prove to be a decent trade chip to clear up cap space too, if Poile can't unload the guys we'd really rather see shipped out. Only problem there is we're trying to add legitimate 2nd line forwards, not unload them.

It will be interesting to see who we get, but I'm not holding my breath that we get a big name.

A big name would be nice, but I'd settle for a couple of second or third tier guys who could just contribute once-in-a-while. Kind of like how Turris was the first couple of months after the trade. (I think some fans tend to forget he actually looked pretty good for a few weeks before Kyle made the decision to start sucking) Preferably some bigger bodies with some speed and skill, who won't get bullied off the puck so easily. Sadly those guys don't grow on trees though...

I cringed every time Ellis was tossed around. There was one Dallas goal where the guy literally threw Ellis off the puck like a child, made a quick pass, easy goal. Peks didn't have a chance. We need size.

Honest question for all.
Does anyone here think that this team stopped playing for Lavy?. In the past his teams seemed to have tuned him out?

- BGKarras

This is something I wondered about as well. Craig Smith was the first to voice his opinion about how they have not change things on the power play for 3 years. He was obviously frustrated with doing the same thing for years and not seeing any success.

In my opinion, losing Hously was the downfall of the Preds. The D-men play has dropped off dramatically and the powerplay is non-existent. I don't know if there is any rules about how many coaches you can have behind the bench. I would love to see him return is some form or fashion to help correct this team's woes.

This team has real issues with big guys who know how to push their weight around. Big Buff, Jamie Benn are examples of what I'm talking about. Turris is about the size of a match stick, Arvy, Grimaldi, Ellis fall pray to guys like them. The Preds have never had that type of player with the exception of Weber #6. I can't say that trading Weber for Subban was a mistake because they have the same amount of goals since the trade and Subban has more assists. But, with that said, I don't see the leadership on this team that was there when Shea was here. Perhaps it's time for a new captain. Someone who is a little more in your face. Maybe Ekholm because he tends to show some real grit.

That’s a good point that seems to get overlooked.
