Fine, you're right. The pressure is the same in game 7 of the playoffs as it is in November and December.
- stevens87

Why bother, any one who says the game doesn't dramatically change in the playoffs really isn't paying attention.

You mean there is no corsi stat that measures's pressure ???

If you don't think there is a difference between regular season and playoff hockey you are lost or don't watch.

The difference is massive and I can't believe that is even a discussion.

If 1 of the big 4 get traded I think it's Malkin.

Crosby: Not gonna happen
Letang: Top Dman, reasonable Cap, still very good. Injury history makes less valuable on the market
Kessel: Still a lethal shot, decent cap hit for production. Weak on the RW if you factor in Hornquest
Malkin: Produces at a high rate, but hurt a lot. No show in the playoffs and much of this year. I think a team would like a #1C but no clue what the return would be. Question is what does Malkin want?

- sammy87

It's going to be Kessel unless Malkin asks to be traded. They've already taken offers on him after last season. The good news for us is he was our best player in the playoffs.

Carolina beating the Islanders to so many pucks. The Penguins showed no interest in working that hard. They made Tom Kuhnhackl look like a star.

Islanders can’t complete a pass right now. Doesn’t look like the team we played at all. Credit to the Canes

Yeah... Islanders getting exposed. Just goes to show you what a piss poor effort the Pens gave. Even beyond some of the roster flaws, the team as a whole didn't have a pulse. Game 3 was disturbing. Come back to your own barn down 0-2 and flatline.

True. The Canes are a good young team with very good defense and goal tending too.

I’ve been watching hockey for 25 years and I’ve watched enough hockey in my life, on tv and over 250 games in person. Playoff hockey isn’t a massive difference. Fundamentally it’s still the same game. The tactics are still the same. Coaching comes into play more as you have 7 games against the same opponent but it’s still hockey and it literally is the same sport. The difference isn’t massive, you’re just a dunce.

Mullen (1) - Lemieux (6) - Kessel (2; 1 retained by Toronto)
Martin (2) - Hatcher (1)
Barasso (3)

Edit: For this exercise, it's insanely hard to build a good defense if you pick Mario. The S-Mart bet would be to bolster the D without him.

Kessel (3) - Francis (3) - Mullen (1)
Martin (2) - Murphy (4)
Wregget (2)

And for my money (no pun intended), Murphy > Letang.

The most universally accepted statement in hockey history is the playoffs and regular season are dramatically different. Every player, coach ,gm when talking about
the playoffs will tell you what a different game it is in the playoffs.

Your one of the ultra -educated posters from the last thread that made sure to tell
me that I failed my english grammer and spelling test. Again your calling people
dumb. Well my friend you just failed the hockey knowledge open book test.
I have been watching for 50+ years and never heard anyone say it was the same.

I realize that I didn't play junior hockey like your partner so my credibility is
lacking. But you really should rethink your statement before calling someone
dumb.

Meh...Disagree. Regular season games are pretty boring for the most part. I usually watch them recorded then blast through them. The blood fest rivalries have mostly disappeared like Philly and Caps as well. Most teams aren't at 100%.

Playoffs are more entertaining.

The game isn’t different but what’s at stake is. That’s the only difference. The game itself is no different and there are no fundamental changes to the game of hockey during the playoffs.

That makes a lot of sense. The rules don't change but every aspect of the way the game is played does. Its more intense, more physical, more detailed in teams
approach. Every plays importance is amplified. And of course the pressure because
of what is at stake makes it so much more entertaining. It also is much harder
to win because every players effort level is increased because of importance.

You bragged you have been at 250 games in person. I'm guessing some were
playoff games. Are you saying just as a fan there was no dramatic difference
in being at a playoff game as opposed to a game in say October ? Stop it , Please

Yep. A lot of them were playoff games. I worked the all the way up to the Stanley Cup finals in arena for the Lightning/Hawks series.

I’m saying the game is legitimately the exact same game in October as it is in May. It’s still hockey. Is it better hockey? Yes. Teams have been playing for 82+ games so the hockey isn’t nearly as sloppy as October hockey. Is there more shoving matches between whistles? Yes. Happens when you play one team 7 times in a row and you’ve got a bunch of alpha male competitive athletes. But in the end it’s still hockey. As a fan, do I enjoy playoff hockey more? Absolutely because there are higher stakes. Teams seasons end. But it’s still hockey. It’s still the exact same sport.

Come on, give it a break. Its very different because of the way its played, I mean
its the same sport when played by women but a lot different, no. You know
you don't have all those shoving matches between alpha males.

I’ve forgot more about hockey than you’ll ever know.

It’s okay. You’ve proven over and over again you know nothing about hockey. I mean what retard wants to trade elite talent for lesser players and actively make a team worse?
