How much poop will the Bruins' fanbase and the league put up with just because this guy has good hands?

He keeos getting second and third chances, but he always reverts to the same slew-footing, cheap-shotting form.

I’ve slapped mosquitoes harder than Marchand hit that guy. I don’t know why we’re talking about it.

Show me a fan who wouldn’t want Marchand on their team and I’ll show you a baseball fan.

Exactly... worst thing with him on L2 is that I bet he will be taken off that line and pushed down before the 2nd period starts...

The Bruins can keep him. It would be a sticking point for me if he played for a team I root for. I find it hard to root for a team that tolerates or encourages him. Sure, nobody is denying he has great talent. That is part of what makes it harder to understand his risky play. And let's call it what it really is - it's not "dirty" or filthy or agitator behavior. It is reckless and negligent behavior that endangers the safety of other professionals. Whether there is intent to injure is moot. And he keeps doing it again and again and again. And it sparks these discussions and people pick sides. It's a distraction for the team, the fanbase, and the league - and it's not always a funny and mostly harmless distraction like face-licking (as gross as that was, Callahan's reaction was priceless).

It's the slew-footing that pisses me off. It's the blind-side shots he traffics in. Those have great potential to injure and that is bullpoop. Espeially for a player with his high ceiling.

No, I don't want Marchand. I hope the Lightning would never tolerate a player like that. We've had some guys who walk the line, but the worst ended up traded away and/or called out by the fans for it.

Didn't Kuch get suspended for dirty play in the 1st round?

Yes he did. I won't make excuses for it either. It disappointed me. And I hope it doesn't become a pattern. I've seen him play angry or frustrated, but this is the first time I have winced when I saw him do something.

Everything about the Lighting's first round was disappointing to say the least...

Yeah Kucherov is no saint. He gets just as frustrated as Marchand but a lot of the stuff he does is barely scrutinized.

I've watch Kuch slew foot someone into the boards at full speed with not even a penalty called.

You trading Kuch on his next suspension? Because it will happen. Honestly, a lot of players in the NHL can be real bumholes on the ice. But it is a mean sport.

If Kuch pans out to be a Marchand-type player. I'd be very conflicted and would not cry in my beer if he was traded.

It's not quite accurate yet to put Kucherov and Marchand in the same group when it comes to reckless play. Marchand has a much longer track record in that regard. Kuch has not been in the league as long and this was his first suspension.

I watch him pretty closely when he's ice (who doesn't?), I have seen Kuch make some petty slashes and even leave his feet to check someone from behind. I didn't like it then and I don't like it now. But in context, I've seen Marchand do worse and more often.

Regardless of who is doing it, there should be no tolerance for it in this league. One can be edgy, trash talk, and be physical without being reckless. You can stick up for your teammates with a good hard clean check, or a challenged fight. If Kuch wants to go down the road of beng remembered as a guy with dirty tendencies, that would be unfortunate.
