Yeah for sure. You just have great resources to acquire someone else at that point. You don't NEED 80 superstars to win a cup. Leafs could trade for a guy like Kessel, Perry or sign someone like Zuccarello in the off season. These are example of guys who could perform well on the wings, not give up too much to acquire them and they are only on the cap for a few more years while the window is still open.

Players will fight hard to keep those bonuses. And if certain teams get $ in revenue sharing from the Leafs AND also have a tax advantage, it has to stay.

I think it sounds like KD learned a lesson last summer through the WN saga. He needs to be a little more matter-of-fact with the reality of the negotiation. Tell him he needs to sign before the draft or else he's forcing you to try to find a replacement. If he's demanding too much then go sign a replacement July 1st. If you land one then dangle him for picks/prospects and move on. We'll all be sad but (frank) it ...at least he maintains control.

The reality is that hard-working teams lacking talent never can do this back-to-back years. Lou has a lot of work to do to equal this season.

They will have a tough off season I think. Lee needs to be resigned, Lehner, Dal colle is a RFA. Eberle needs a new deal if they want to keep him. You're right, they will have a tough off season since most of the guys still signed are aging and just not that high end of talent. See: Ladd
