Risto. - TheSabresTaco
This has always been the catch 22 with Risto
The kind of minutes reduction and sheltering he would need to succeed makes him dead weight for his cap hit, similar issue with bogosian.
Even if you moved both for virtually nothing(don't do that botts) The cost of replacing sheltered third pair guys is 20% of the cap hit you're moving out. If nothing else you free up a ton of money to spend on guys actually suited for top 4/top 6 roles.
It's why I liked the Montour deal, because he's basically a modern Risto with half the contract. If you can flip Risto for at least what you gave up for Montour or more, its a huge win going forward. |

I've been in and out of the city for the last 4 years. I started in Jersey with a 2 hr commute and quit after 60 days, moved to Brooklyn a few months later and stayed there for 2 years but rockstarred my way into trouble. I finally bit the bullet and moved to the city last summer, had to go Buffalo for a few months to straighten some stuff up and moved back full time in February. I wouldn't enjoy this if I had to continue the commute, even from Brooklyn.
I am pm for 2 ground up buildings, they are amazing projects, building in Manhattan requires non-stop adjusting but its definitely worth it. If you can survive the DOB here you can build anywhere. - washedup20
If you can make it there, you'll make it anywhere. I'll give you a shout the next time I'm heading into the city, we can get a few lights/darks at McSorley's

Hey, I might be interviewing for a job in CT...any insights or advice?
Its right in the middle of the state. Middletown (great name huh?).
My rockstar days are long gone so just looking to work, finish raising my fam and whittling on the front porch. Looks like houses are pricey but the area is safe...close to fresh seafood. Am I missing anything? |

Middletown is really nice, right on the river, they have a cool little main street with good restaurants / bars. Two solid breweries also - Stubborn Beauty and Forest City. Not far from Hartford or from the shore. You cross the river and it gets very rural/woodsy, if that appeals to you. I live on the shore outside of New Haven, good seafood but pizza is what the area is known for. Houses get pricier as you move closer to the city (all the rich city folk that want a yard). If you are looking mid state I'd say the housing prices there are as reasonable as you will find in CT. You looking anywhere in particular? |

Been checking out Portland and the woodsy parts across the river, as you said, to get more of a rural feel. Or just south of Middletown, too, Haddam I think. Don't want to get right in town or in the heart of Weslyan U neighborhoods. Home Prices are up everywhere, so that's cool that mid-state is reasonable.
It looks like most places have decent schools and overall like a really quaint New England-y place to live. My wife is from farm country, Illinois and I hate big cities so I'm hoping this pans out. Teaching college won't make me rich but havin' all that time off is like a dream to me.
Thanks, Man! |

Based on what you want, you are looking in the right areas. South of Haddam is nice too - Chester, Deep River & Essex. You going to teach at Wesleyan? PCU based on it. Classic. "Can you blow me where the pampers is?" |

They do funny work at times. With this group, how do you shelter Risto? Why do you want to take ozone starts away from Dahlin and Montour? If that's really the role he needs, and other team's value him higher, how is it not best to simply move him?
I'll continue to say they acquired Montour as Risto's replacement. The current group doesn't fit together well.
