I've watched most of the games. I wait for this time of year. Love when the Flyers are in but can usually get on board. Perhaps my personal bias is tainting it for me. This time of year i can usually find something or someone I can root for a bit. I can only watch so much random hockey. Someone referred to a game last week as "Just a random Tuesday night game". That's the feel I get this year. I literally despise EVERY team left in the east. I enjoy the Avs and the Blues a bit so those two series aren't as bad to me. Can't stand the Bruins and big nose. Can't stand Torts. Can't stand the fact that one of them will be in the Eastern conference finals. Just pissed me off. Although hate the Bruins most. Canes doing this annoys me. I lived in Cary for three years and saw a lot of games cause I could buy game day tickets for 10 bucks. They sucked every year. Lived in SWFL for 7 years had partial season plan the year after the cats made the playoffs. Thought they could be my "second" team. They lost all 13 games I went to. Although I did see Jagr pass Messier for second on all time list.
Love hockey. Played, reffed and coached. Just not getting the same level of enjoyment this year. It's already the start of a looooong summer.

Unpredictable yes, not the best playoffs in a while. They've been alright, I don't enjoy watching Carolina or Islanders. Hate the Bs, West matchups are a good watch.

Exactly. Root against Bs but hate Bus almost as much. West series are a bit better.

No idea but rumours are he might be the odd man out again in Nashville's attempt to upgrade up front. If they can sign some one like Duschene he might be a salary dump. Picks and prospects.

It just seems like if Comcast wants to flex their muscles on the Flyers side those are the kind of moves that would scream corporate improvement.

I'm quietly rooting for Anders Lee with out much hope.

Will it be a Phillies type summer, who knows? Thinking Comcast wants to make a splash and there's money to be spent and kids to fill roles on the cheap.

Ghost and 11 or one of the more high end prospects we have. Maybe another prospect on top of that. I don't see acquiring Subban as a glaring need.

If we're giving up assets like that it should either be for a really solid center or hell of a winger.

I've mentioned this before, Ovi was labelled as a loser and horrible captain by every analyst. All it takes is one playoff run, everything changes.

Yeah, my beef has never been with G. If anything I put it on the front office for never being able to put a fairly complete team around the guy. Aside from his rookie season and maybe the following year the team has always had some sort of glaring hole on the roster, from no goalie to no defense to no PK.

Hopefully Fletch can get them another center this off-season. Don't get me wrong I love Panarin but center depth is much more of a pressing need for this team in my eyes. A vet D man who excels in his own end would be a big add too imo.

Without reference to metrics and based solely on the eye test, every team left in the playoffs skates better as a whole than the Flyers which allows for better forechecking and breakouts.
- Sinisalo4vr

Also, seems that stamina is much better to sustain high pressure hockey for 60 minutes.

Always something haha. I know folks around here might not feel the same way but I have a good feeling about this AV hire, good things to come.

Playoffs are going well this season because of the upsets. West is been fun to watch but I don't get to stay up for the entirety of the games. Carolina and the Isles can (frank) off. Nothing against NY but I hope Carolina sweeps. That definitely has been the toughest series to watch IMO.

I agree. I just hope he doesn't fall under that list of Philadelphia stars who just couldn't win the big one. Barkley, AI, Reggie White, heck throw Lindros in there. Hall of Fame talent without the ring.

Me too. Honestly, it was the kind of hire they needed to make after taking chances on first time and interm coaches. I think he's going be pretty demanding and I hope that will result in tighter play from top to bottom.

That's really what this team needs, clean things up, play as a 5 man unit. the skill is there, need the attention to detail.

I think they can win one while he's still in his prime BUT I think the front office needs to make some real savvy moves this and next off-season because I don't think just waiting on prospects is going to get us there within G's realistic window to win.

Hamilton, huge right shot, can really bring it. solid point totals too. Very odd a good Dman as young as he is has been on 3 teams though.

He gets a lot of poop for being 6-6 and not physical, but Hamilton is one of the few young dmen in the league that I feel is on par with what Ghost in terms of value. Maybe not in sheer points, but as far as driving play, there are few better.

I think Ghost is a lot better at distributing the puck, Dougie's a lot better at shooting it.

Ghost spends an awful lot more time on the PP than Dougie though, and gets a lot of his assists there.

Take off your fan glasses. This isn’t even close. Hamilton is solid in every phase of the game. He’s been very consistent over the past 5 years. Ghost gets most of his points on the Pp and is a total liability on defense

I am not a Ghost fan and have been critical of him especially last season. Admittedly, I have not seen a lot of Hamilton over his career. I'm worried about his trade history. How does such a talented young RHD keep getting dealt? That play he had in the playoffs where he avoided contact was bad. Some real "Ghost-like poop."

Hamilton gets a ton of shots and has good skill and great size. We now have a few good sized dmen (at least one on each pair depending if Morin breaks into line-up). Wouldn't it make sense to keep Ghost, who has top PP qb potential when he is on his game, over a guy who has been traded 3 times in 5-6 years? Would Dougie automatically slot into our top 4?

I assume we believe he would and he is an upgrade for our unit.

Dougie would be our 1B. We do not have a Dman that brings what he does, his underlying numbers are great to for the fancy stats people. Meyers could be all your ifs and maybes but he ain't at the moment. I do have some concern on his team turnover though, very odd.
