Yeah it's really too bad the Bruins didn't win a cup shortly after that trade - MrBeanTown
And what did that have to do with the trade?
Bruins hilariously wasted that trade. |

Well if you consider that Seguin was a non-factor in the 2011 playoffs as he only played in 13 games, the Bruins won because of the other Leafs trade they made for Kaberle |

I like this
Helps with 2 problems, RHD and Andersson is under contract for this coming season @ 750k. - senstroll
Interesting trade, but I'm not sure I would do it. We are weaker on the left side.. I would like to keep Johnsson.

Was it necessary to say "Blue Jacket" in front of "Bob?" - AdamFrench
Of course!
Probably not gonna be able to say it much longer because he won't be a Blue Jacket come next season. So it needs to be said as much as possible right now. |

I think that trade would favor the Leafs, and not just a little.

Please don't make me defend the (frank)ing Bruins Pat.
Seguin had 7 points in 13 games in the 2011 cup run.
He had 2 goals and 2 assists in a game vs Tampa bay, pratically won that game by himself.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eDBXbUO5YSk
So while not being a part of the core that the Bruins used to win the cup, he was definetely a factor at some point.

so give 1st, 1st, 2nd, 3rd for Mcavoy? - senstroll
I had edited it before so it would be 1st, 2nd, 3rd.
McAvoy is that good that it would make perfect sense for Leafs to give up those picks, even the additional 1st.
By the way - the only 'dangerous team' regarding for offersheets for Marner would be the New York Rangers.. have their picks, some young good players and seems quite interesting to be the face of an original six team + great city.
Apart from NYR, doubtful whether there is any other team and city that would entice Marner. |

That would be awesomely dumb to offer sheet marner and hand over 4 first round picks instead of signing Panarin who is just as good |

Okay, but he’s much older, and probably not the guy you’d want to try to rebuild around. |

It for sure would, we need an RHD more than we need an upgrade at LW, but I'd rather trade a RW than a LW right now. |

Meh... 1 good game..
Outside of that, he had 3 points in 12 games.. Hardly anything to write home about.
In the Vancouver series, he wasn't much of a factor.

Isn't Panarin like 6 years older? Plus, I think Marner is slightly better than him.

Marner needs to be payed the most.best player on team.
Tavares.nylander.mathews. not as attractive core withoutout Marner.
Marner i project takes a 1 year deal through arb. Then heads somewhere better after. Plus side he will have a crazy good year next. |

Giving away two 1st and a 2nd to Boston has worked so well for Toronto in the past. - Scabeh
For this ridiculous scenario to take place, Bruins would not match - which is unrealistic. There is no amount offer sheeted to McAvoy that the Goons wouldn't match. With Methuselah probably back for one more year, McAvoy is a Bruin for the forseeable future. |
|
|
|
People seem to forget that Bruins traded Kessel because:
1/ Bruins were in cap trouble (not able to match potential offer sheets)
2/ Kessel had indicated clearly he wanted to get traded out of Boston.
Boston won the Cup early after that trade, so difficult to argue they lost the trade.
(difficult to win a cup with players who don't want to be there; negative team dynamics etc.). |
