Matthews - Tavares - Marner.
One can argue who's the better player; I'm a big Marner fan from the beginning, but I think Matthews is a bit better.
However, Marner is definitely a guy fans go to the rink for; with his creativity and heart, hard to dislike him. |

Two things to note:
1) Near the bottom, it says the Flyers may have an interest in Kadri
2) I'd love to see PK here in Toronto. And so would PK. - Atomic Wedgie
How (frank)ing crazy would that be.
I hope it never happens. |

Marner is more fun to watch. He gets the puck and does craaaaaaazy poop with it.
Matthews gets the puck on his stick, and a millisecond later it is in the net.
Don't get me wrong, I'm happy with the goal... |

They're in a cap crunch too. 10mil for 2 goalies, Bennett and Tkachuk. Can't add Kap or Johnsson's salary without dumping something (Stone/Neal/Brodie).
Maybe look at getting Hamonic. RHD, on a cheapish deal and the only guy without a NTC. - AdamFrench
They have 6 million in 3 goalies currently. Smith is up so they could likely do it if they trusted the young kids in net. |

Doing rough math, there are five Leafs on the roster that are younger than my shin pads. |

Marner needs to be payed the most.best player on team.
Tavares.nylander.mathews. not as attractive core withoutout Marner.
Marner i project takes a 1 year deal through arb. Then heads somewhere better after. Plus side he will have a crazy good year next. - spazzbot
I don't think he has arb rights this year. |

I like Hyman.
He's a hard worker with a low salary hit.
Which is precisely why I included him in the deal - you gotta give value to get value. |

I'd rather give up Johnsson.
Or Brown.
Or Kapanen.
Or Sandin. |

If P.K came to Toronto, that would be awesome. I don't know what Nashville would want for him though and he'll be 30 years old this month

I like PK Subban a lot.
But I do think that would be a bad trade for Leafs to make considering his age and caphit. |

Same here, I am a big P.K fan, he'd be great as a Maple Leaf. I just don't think we can afford the cap or the players/picks it would take to get him
I assume it would have to be something like; Nylander, Brown and another player just to make the money work. |

Leafs fans should hope so too.
Acquiring Subban, given his age and contract status, is very much an "old" Leafy thing to do. |

4 firsts is better for a rebuild - senstroll
Rangers have 2 first round picks (including #2 ovr) and 2 2nd round picks upcoming draft + another 1st / 2nd (depending on whether dallas reaches next playoff round).
Then next year they could have another additional 1st rounder if Dallas resigns Zuccharello. (if not, it's a 3rd rounder)
Losing 1st round picks in 2019-2020-2021-2022 could be something NYR could afford with the extra picks 2019/2020.
One could argue that NYR made the moves before trade deadline with a potential offersheet in mind.
Question is: would they target Marner / McAvoy / Point / Tkachuk / Trouba / Rantanen / Aho / Connor / other RFA??
It would be great to see (for the NHL's health) if NYR would decide to put in an offersheet and get one of these guys. (in addition to Kakko). |
