5-6-7 maybe, not worried. Just bored of the Marner/Nylander sucks and are overpaid and the coach has to go and Patty M. is old etc etc etc.

These numbers don't pass the eye test.

Anybody who watched the Leafs play regularly saw Marner create easy goals for Tavares. It's not like Marner gave the puck to Tavares in the neutral zone and then he deked by everybody and put it top corner 50 times. In fact, Marner usually did a lot of the hard work most of the time.

What's that saying Joe Bowen used to say all the time? Figures don't lie, but liars figure?

- JohnFergusonJr

I think its safe to say that Marner has never played with a C like Tavares, and it shows in his point total, if you want to really simplify things

Marner 25 point over his career high
Tavares 2 more points than his prev career high

obv more seasons for Tavares, but thats a huge disparity

I'd ALMOST bet my left nut that he's a Leaf for life now.
- Garnie

Perhaps. I just feel that if we don't make some real strides on the D in a couple of years then moving him might make more sense. But I really like the guy. It's a tough blend. Need to weaken the offence to improve the defence. And vice versa.

I agree, and I'm not looking forward to JT in about 4-5 years. He seems to really have to work to get his big ass going out there.

In his last couple years, guys in here are going to be wishing for Patty M. to unretire.

- Garnie

He scored 47 goals this year.

How the frank can you be displeased with his play?

I wouldn't worry too much.. If JvR can score 30+ goals without moving at all, surely Tavares can too.

I agree, I am fairly confident that Kadri is shipped out this summer as well. I don't think his latest brain fart will be forgiven - especially by Shanny.

I love JT, but his skating isn't his strongest part. He'll be fine, a little worried about the last couple years, but with 3 or 4 cups we won't care as much.
- Garnie

Marleau age 30-34 was still averaging 70 points. There is a huge difference between 33 yo PM and 40 Yo Patrick Marlueau

if you dont see how bad Marleau is now, your huge PM boner is showing.

JT should be fine in his early 30s, just like PM was

Mirtles article today made a good point, in that the Leafs saw again what its like not having Kadri in important games. And shifting Willie to 3rd line C and him lugging stone hands around does no favors to him or his return to form

So unless they have a very suitable replacement who is as cheap or cheaper..I dont see it

Or Marner is just developing as players his age usually do and Tavares is plateauing as players his age usually do.

Marner's point totals are because he gave Tavares great chances to score easy goals. 50+ primary assists are proof of that.

This is his 3rd suspension in 4 years, right? One by the team, two by the league?

Regular season Tavares, no problem.

Playoff Tavares? Not the best this year. 1 non-empty net goal.

And I know, Bergeron and Co. but if you pay a guy 11 million a year in his prime, you want him to overcome the match-up and put up some results.

I feel like the Leafs 4 best players are Matthews, Marner, Andersen and Tavares. Three of those guys stepped up and won 1 game each. One guy didn't.

Just sayin'
