He WAS a great player. He's basically like all those other over the hill stars that sign with the Leafs at the end of their career. At least he supposedly is helping mentor our young guys. Sure hope that mentoring is worth all the trouble his salary is causing.

Yeah, they drafted well with the first overall pick and a fourth, and a fifth, and seventh and eighth. Anyway, I know you wouldn't trade Marner anyway and neither are the Leafs so who cares.

It does matter because it means you'll be getting junk in return, especially for Zaitsev which means it won't really help the cap space situation because it'd be a "bad" contract for another "bad" contract. It's just a lateral move.

And, on top of it, the Leafs are already short on RHD. Trading the only one they got won't help an already weak D.
