I was just seeing people’s opinions on Laine vs Kakko. Would 3rd overall for Laine be similar value, if Winnipeg looking for young 2C? Have LW Laine C Toews RW Kane line.
I also liked the Rangers trade idea, but would try to make slightly bigger (all hypothetical):
3rd overall, Gustafson, 2020 2nd, 2019 4th, and a lower Dman prospect for 2nd overall (Kakko) and then 21st overall (Spencer Knight). - DrewDawg
A team like the Rangers who are in a rebuild are not going to value Gustafsson because Gustafsson's contract is only through next season and then he is UFA and can sign wherever he want to. Gustafsson would have trade value for a team in "win now" mode who could use a "cheap" offensive d-man.

Or at the TDL to a team in contention but right up against the cap. |

Hope the Hawks have heard the several time Milberry or someone has pointed out that the guy at the net needs to be IN FRONT of the goalie - not at the side.
An often failing of even the Hawks who will go to the net. |

True ... except if the Hawks are in the mix for a playoff spot (and hopefully they are) it would be difficult to take an asset away in that situation. Maybe the Hawks just keep him at that point and consider him their TDL pickup but then they get nothing for him. I would rather they use him as a trade chip before or at the draft.

TT, Daley, Kempny...
As far as your assumption that i hated Q because he was losing, your completely wrong. I hated him since 2010 at the earliest. I saw something about the way the team played that annoyed me. Lack of complete effort from the opening faceoff to the final horn. Then the incessant line changes which truthfully is the reason why the team failed. The conflict of philosophy with the FO was the final nail in the coffin. - gifman
Are you the one that said the hawks would have won 8 cups of Quenneville wasnt the coach? |

How would Chicago sign Laine? Their cap space is gonna disappear fast after re-signing Debrincat and Strome. People expecting big UFA signings or RFA offer sheets this summer are going to be disappointed |

Columbus just not generating much offense the last two games now. Rarely anyone in front of Rask. And usually one and done. |

I'd say you are on to something. The Hawks keeping Gustafsson is the most likely scenario unless things really go sideways or another dman makes him expendable (not likely next season) or they get a good offer for him and weigh that against his contract demands. It will be interesting to see if the Hawks extend him this summer. Not a prediction, but he will be eligible for an extension in July.
It may depend just how far long the next wave of D is looking and maybe they wait a bit to see if any of the young dmen are actually ready to play. |

Robin Lehner is a pending UFA. I wonder if he plans on testing the waters, or if he wants to stay on the Island? He made $1.5 this season.
Any takers? - Ogilthorpe2
I was hoping this past season hawks would ve pursued him as the eventual successor for crow. |

They weren’t lolligaggers - they just had a terrible coach. - StLBravesFan
Yea, crazy how the players figured out how to improve as the series went on, independent of any input from the coaches. (Red font).
You know who else sucked as a coach, Scotty Bowman. Sure he won a lot of games, and a lot of Stanley Cups, but his teams never competed the entire 60 minutes. And they took entire months off. He’s a bum, I don’t care that he’s the winningest HC in NHL history. |

So, Ryan Dzingel, let's NOT pursue him over the summer. After coming back from being scratched, I've found him to be a big time disappointment.
Wouldn't you know it, he scores. Still though. |

Back to Columbus - maybe the Jackets can put together three good periods instead of just 1/2 of one. |

Rask has been the better goalie. Bob has made some good saves, but just isn't a champion goalie in my view. I bet we never see him in a Cup final. |

Yeah i hated the Hawks from that point on too. It really drove me crazy they won two cups with no effort and no compete level. - paulr

Couple of minor signings the past few days. The Hogs have resigned Nick Moutrey (F) and signed Mathew Thompson (F) and Chase Marchand (G). Moutrey and Thompson are nothing more than minor league depth. Marchand was one of 3-4 goalie invitees to prospects camp last summer.
The Marchand signing is intriguing because the Hogs net is getting crowded with him, Delia, Forsberg, Lankinen, and Tompkins. Guessing that Marchand shares the net in Indy with Tompkins, then Rockford has 2 of Delia, Forsberg, and Lankinen with Delia either on the Hawks roster or Forsberg no longer in the organization.
This also leaves no room for Gravel but he's only 19. A 4th year in Halifax then go pro in 2020-21. No need to rush him. |
