As great as Bishop was again in a Game 7 as per his past history of success in them, including in this one in making his career high of 52 saves despite losing 2-1, he must be killing himself for the Stars losses in both Games 1 and 3.

Had he made some specific routine saves in either or both of those two games, and more greater so in the series opener, which instead became bad goals yielded to the Blues, resulting in their two wins of the first four games, the Stars in contrast would have won the series in either 4 or 5 games only.

After Game 5, the Stars were basically a no show offensive wise, with the exception for during OT in Game 7, in relying solely this final game on Bishop to win them the series clincher.

2 blown wraparounds for the stars

One of those two missed wrap around attempts was actually stopped by Bouwmeester with his stick while Binnington was out of position, in costing the Stars the series win, and us another 1st Round pick in June.

Zuke and Seguin both with 11 pts in 13 games.
No 1st rounder, but great performance by Zuke!

So not waiting on Adam Fox doesn't look that great now, eh? You hate to see it.
- tomburton99

nah, it's still fantastic

really, not moving from the 49th pick to the 28th pick, 21 slots, does NOT change my feeling on acquiring Fox.

one little thing left to root for

Yeah, we do have to root extra hard for that pick now. Without the Stars 1st we probably are not trading up.

I mean, could Jamie Benn possibly have looked more like Rick Nash in 2014 finals?

I don't know what's worse about past Rangers teams, the Nash thing or Chris Kreider almost missing every single breakaway. My vote was our team's ability to "logo snipe". They were real good at aiming at the crest of the goalies jersey

Bonus points for the Stars in the second period practicing the tried and true strategy of just collapsing in your own end and relying on your goalie. 1 shot?

good news is that we'll never have to root for the Stars again

that is one really annoying team to root for

that Jamie Benn contract is some disaster too

9.5 mil a year with a NMC until 2025, YIKES

Who was it on here that recently suggested signing Maroon this offseason bc he’s a playoff performer?

Pat Maroon: "I'm proud. I'm proud to be from St. Louis. I'm proud to put that jersey on every night. I'm proud to work hard in front of these fans, work hard for these guys that deserve it in here, that have been here for so long, that want nothing more to win." #STLBlues

I'm probably going to start a heated debate saying this, but we really did have lucky timing not only in when we were contenders, but when we've had to rebuild. Somehow we avoided giving out those 10-11 year contracts, because we didn't really have anyone we had to lock up that long when it was a thing. When guys like Staal and G were due, the term limit was already a thing and it saved us.

We are probably lucky with the rebuild now, because you have to figure in the next CBA the terms will be furthered reduced. Right when we will have to think about locking up Buch, Fox, ADA, and Shesty to long term deals.

Somehow the whole timing of our rise and fall this decade has sort of Ranger proofed things like the Benn and Shea Weber contract from occurring here.

Rangers definitely wanted Weber, ultimately he chose Philly, but the Rangers were ready to sign him to that offer sheet too

Talk about a disaster. BUT, imagine having him with the team for that cup run (if everyone fit under the cap).

I would have given it to him as well. He's a first ballot HOF dman. The whole cap recapture thing for those contracts is pretty BS because no one knew that was going to be a thing.

I think we would have won the cup in 12, though things may have turned south very quickly. No Miller, Skjei, we can't trade for MSL.

but if we successfully had gotten Weber, it was after the playoffs in 2012, it was that summer, before the lockout

in fact it was a few days after Weber signed with Philly that we traded for Rick Nash, so it may have stopped that trade, we definitely would have still drafted Skjei

If the Stars won that game last night we would have had to take up a collection to send Ben Bishop a fruit basket.

Yeah, that’s crazy. Particularly St Louis.
