I really can't believe that the Rangers are 1 Stars win away from getting another first. Of all the conditions on the picks that we got this year, I thought this was the longest shot from happening. Go Stars!!!

Can't believe how the stars aligned for us this off season.

Pun somewhat intended
Go Zuccs!

Re:6: The Dallas Zuccs win the Cup

I see now that "Messiah94" spoke about 1 period too soon, and nearly jinxed both Stars and Rangers fans with that 6th point of his post made likely just about after the 2nd period had ended, as per its posting time shows.

When Bishop suddenly handed the Blues their first and (luckily) only goal on a silver platter off his own give away to cut the Stars lead to 2-1, I feared that the goal could have ended up being the ultimate turning point of not only Game 5, but the series result as well.

Good thing I was not on the internet at all at that time to ever see that post, while there was still one period of regulation time remaining, and then have to worry even more about that possible jinx, due to our Draft implications the game and series poses.

Didn’t add McQuaid or the 4th/7th exchange with CBJ just added Bergman.

Assuming your list refers to Gorton's trades made through today starting about the final week of the 2017/18 season's trade deadline (apprx. Feb. 20, 2018*), on top of the additions noted by you and "TommyGTrain", here are a few other trades Gorton had completed since that day (starting from most current & dating back):

Acquired ................................. Traded

Darren Raddysh ....................... Peter Holland (UFA)
VANC. 7th Rd. 2020 ................. Marek Mazanec (UFA)
NSHV. 7th Rd. 2020 ................. Cody McLeod (UFA)
Connor Brickley** ................... Cole Schneider (UFA)
Chris Bigras** ........................ Ryan Graves (RFA)
Rob O'Gara** & 2018 3rd ........ Nick Holden (1st TDL week deal on 2/20/18)*

** (Potentially eligible in July: Brickley - UFA, Bigras - RFA, O'Gara - G6 UFA)
(With the exception of Holden, all others traded are UFA or RFA eligible in July.)

Also, in first acquiring Adam McQuaid from Boston last September, in addition to dealing those 4th & Cond. 7th Round Picks, Gorton dealt to them d'man, Steve Kampher. Gorton later "reacquired" 4th and 7th Round picks, along with d'man, Julius Bergman from Columbus in exchange for McQuaid at this past season's TDL. However, Bergman for now is RFA eligible in July.

How about those Canes postseason results against the Rangers local bitter rivals in the Islanders and Devils!

After losing initially the 2001 Conf. Quarter Finals series in 6 games to the Devils, the Canes have now won the last 4 series played against those two Rangers local rivals, starting the very following year in defeating the Devils in 6 in the same Conf. Qtr. Finals round. They also won the next match up over them in just 5 games during the 2006 Conf. Semi Finals, on their way to winning their only Stanley Cup.

Then prior to last night's series sweeping win over the Isles, with their backup goalie in McElhinney earning the last 3 wins after Mrazek was injured in Game 2, was that amazing very late comeback victory against the Devils in Game 7 of the 2009 Conf. Qtr. Finals.

That 2009 Canes series win with Eric Staal being their hero, had occurred on the same night the Rangers had just shortly earlier been eliminated in their own Game 7 match up against the Caps. Staal scored two goals in the final 1:20 to erase a 3-2 Devils lead to steal the series from them. His game winner came with about only 30 seconds remaining, I believe off an angle shot from the outer circle against Marty Brodeur, to win that series for the Canes.

No one likely could have predicted all the series winners in this postseason thus far, yet alone how many games would be necessary to win each series. I hope for our Draft benefit that your expectancy of the Stars vs. Blues series ends now in Game 6 instead.

This postseason proves why any team needs to just make the playoffs, in never knowing what benefit it may surprisingly yield. Depending on Gorton's off season moves, we can be right in that position next season, if a changing of the guard furthers some more in the Metro and Eastern Conference. Was it that the Isles were that good against the Penguins in Round One, or that the Penguins were greater so, showing that their times are beginning to change?

However, Carolina had the 4th most points in the NHL after the All Star break with 45, trailing only Tampa (52), St. Louis (50), and Boston (48).

the Canes are going to be good for awhile, this is just the beginning

Hopefully with Kakko, Kravtsov and Fox we end up having something that approaches what they have in Aho, Svechnikov and Slavin eventually

we are lucky that Fox didn't want to play there because they pretty much do everything right (besides the crap return they got for Skinner)

yep, Canes are going to be good for awhile, even their AHL team is great

very interested to see the contract they give Aho after season

That's why no one should be upset as to it costing us potentially two 2nd Rounders, including our own #37 overall pick this Draft, for a top RH shooting d'man prospect with Fox's potential.

Earlier in the season, and prior to the Avs slumping before later recovering to reach the postseason, we had wanted top Avs prospect in d'man, Cale Makar included in some type of larger size trade involving Hayes heading to them when the Avs had showed interest in acquiring him. The Avs would have never parted with Makar had the talks become more of a serious nature.

anybody who is upset about what we gave up for Fox is nuts

hopefully Dallas takes care of business because if we are drafting 2nd, 19th and 28th, complaining about not also having #37 is a little greedy

You summed it up best, Jim, especially for those fans relating Fox to possibly being in potential only another Matt Gilroy out of Long Island, as I had seen in some places. Then come the ones who only want to stockpile on pick after pick, but yet still complain when the non 1st round ones are used to acquire a top young prospect. They must have already forgotten past recent seasons when using any picks to acquire vets for the very short term was the norm here for too long prior to the rebuild.

Buch, Lemiux, AD, should come in around 2 mill each?

Claeson and Pionk? Pionk has arbitration rights, so he's probably gone, and Claeson played well, but is he really worth signing and jamming up an already jammed up back end?

If the first three I mentioned are signed, $$$ comes down to more like 14/15 mill. Thats not all that much to spend on Panarin and a few other small pieces if any current roster players aren't traded. It's really not all that much
