What? How? They went out and identified a smart up and comer, that seems pretty ambitious. As Apposed to just hiring a regurgitated gm that failed out of somewhere else.

No... Gotta keep hiring the same 40 people. Can’t have any new thoughts or ideas. Also they certainly cannot be younger than 45.

I like Babs.

I’m still not convinced he’s back yet...Dubas didn’t give his coaching staff any praise in the closing interviews when he was given the chance. He’s definitely thinking about it.

He’s a unique thinker...and on one hand he can take the safe route and take the bit of rope he has with Babcock. BUT, if Babs doesn’t get this team further he still looks bad.

On the other hand he can bring in the coach I think he would want in Keefe...which would put the teams success entirely on Dubas. It would be a massive gamble.

But if Dubas really believes in his guy why not? He has a insanely talented team. If Dubas has a coach that he thinks will take this team to the next level then is it really a gamble in his eyes?

He wouldn’t be bringing in a “saviour”. He would just be adding someone to his already top 5 team in the NHL on paper.

If the Marlies win the Calder cup and the amount of Marlies that might make the team...it’s a possibility that shouldn’t be overlooked.

It’s interesting

It's going to get really interesting if Keefe takes the Marlies to the Calder final again.

What facts? You keep saying it but can't post them which proves my point.

Really Burn, he has 1 thing for his resume:

Bought OHL Team

The end?

This wasn’t supposed to turn into you wanting to argue all day, but I should have known, holy (frank), I know you’re pretty thick but......he played in the NHL - his ohl team won championships - he coached - gm’d - broke records yada yada yada. Pretty sure you can google stuff ( I’m not positive after today though )

I’m out, sorry for responding to your stupid (frank)ing post.

As a young adult, I would never hire an old guy to do anything.

You're so dense you don't even know what you're arguing. The irony of all this post and your previous post is just epic. Don't know if it's on purpose or really are this dense.

I never said he had one thing on his resume.

Was talking about how they got to the ohl, so "broke records in the ohl" didn't get him an ohl job did it?

"Played in the nhl" is prerequisite for sports management, so....

I said Hunter got ohl job because he bought the team and made himself gm. That is an indisputable fact. He didn't work his way up.

You're off trying to argue everything and anything and making poop up, but you're not the dense one. You out here Hockeybuzzing

I used to argue with you and it always ended up like this, but we haven’t had a spat in years so I’m not interjecting. I think you guys are getting caught up in technicalities. Hunter earned the money to buy an OHL team. He had success coaching and managing that team, so he gets a shot in the bigs. Maybe he’s actually a smart business man and isn’t having the world served to him on a silver plater because he “bought” a team. But on the ther hand he probably had a lot of pull and built up a reputation in the CHL as a competent hockey guy, so the transistion to the NHL was easier for him than some.

Not arguing these points. He bought the team, what he does with it is his prerogative. i never once said he doesn't deserve praise for his work with the team, he's done incredible things with that team since. My point was singularly that he became a gm of an ohl team based on him purchasing said team.

I did not say that he didn't deserve a shot at nhl or anything. Only specifically that as to becoming a ohl gm one bought a team and named himself gm and the other one spent years working his way up from stick boy to next level and so on. People think the guy that named himself gm somehow earned it more than the guy that work up from nothing.

I never criticized hunters record (they are immaculate).

Here's am interesting question. If Ken Holland had shown interest in the GM job of the Leafs at the time they were moving on from Lou, would you have preferred Holland or Dubas?

Shannahan went from playing to the President of a hockey club. Kind of ironic.

Not an interesting question at all. The plan was always for Dubas to take over after Lou’s GM contract ended.
