I feel like you can't criticize anyone, ever again, for anything, after saying that. - James_Tanner
Time to lay off the bottle. You have no idea to what I am referring and even if you did, history shows us pretty clearly you wouldn't understand. |

this is why you get flamed. it's for saying stuff like this. you're completely altering the common definition of a #1 defence to support a narrative about a player that you cannot let go of. a #1 is a guy who can anchor a top pair and give you 22-27 elite minutes/night. lots of teams don't have them because there are not 31 of those guys in the NHL.
it's not possible for anyone who watched that Leaf-Bruin to series to walk thinking "damn that Jason Muzzin is one of the best in the league". - DoubleDown
This is true, for a person with some cognitive function. Given who is making that claim, all bets are off.
Sadly, this will just become more "Leafs-fan lore".

JT was deciding on Toronto/Long Island the night before he signed. It was far from a slam dunk. - RogerRoeper
Didn't say it was a slam dunk, not sure I lay the blame at Lou's feet though.
But I'm guessing he was leaning more toward leaving then staying regardless of GM's etc. |

So for instance, why pay a Hyman or a Brown 2.5 million when every summer there's a Tyler Ennis sitting around for free who will play for 800K ? - James_Tanner
You actually put out a half decent blog, and then you type this? |

Muzzin played exclusively against the Bruins top line, arguably the best line in the NHL, and he did it with Zaitsev as his partner.
For seven games, he was three shot-attempts away from even and was -2 while picking up two points.
With a weak partner against the league's best line, I'd say he is easily a #1. Unless, you want to say that there's only ten or so true number-ones, then I'll concede and say he's a great top pairing guy.

Irrelevant.
Wasn't gonna play any games. - GreatGigInTheSky
Right, but TOR may have played someone other than BOS in round 1 if they had a better backup in the regular season.... |

When someone thinks of a #1 Dman, most of us think of Burns, Hedman, Jones, etc. No one putz Muzzin in that category except you. He a good Dmen with good stats/Corsi, and he very well may be in the top 31 dmen in the league, but he's not a number 1 Dman. Many teams in the league don't have a true # 1 , just like some teams don't have a true #1 Center. It's simple, why do you complicate things?

0% chance of that happening.
Tampa ran away with the division and no team in the league was even remotely close to them.
Both Wild Cards were from the Metro Division. Was always gonna be Boston. |

Actually, rrentz, you've been pretty fair. You only rip on Tanner when he posts something stupid. Oh, wait, I guess that is 99% of the time. Ok, never mind!
Can't believe I'm backing a Rangers fan. The world's gone crazy! Cats and dogs living together; Trump telling the truth; one of Ek's rumors coming true; when will the madness end??? |

I knew there was a reason I like dreading you Tanner.
And what is there to talk about Coyotes hockey right now. Absolutely nothing. Even the Coyotes website is on vacation now.
Thanks for the entertainment. |

Muzzin has scored over 40 points 3 times in the 10 years he has played. That is not consistently scoring 40 points every year. If you really believe muzzin is a #1 dman you are an absolute moron |
