Shanny doesn't have to do anything. That's what Justin Holl is for. |

Wonderful. In a decisive game you want your stars to play a lot. BTW, he's already avg 23:42 minutes per game in the playoffs. - RogerRoeper
Colorado basically has 1 good centre.
Leafs whole strategy was to double down on strong centres (Matthews-Tavares-Kadri(/Nylander)) and then create opportunities to outplay 1 or 2 of the other lines.
Matthews got a lot of shifts.
The fact that Colorado needs to play McKinnon 25mins, is a strong indication that they're not a good team.
(when Pitts won the Stanley Cups, Crosby averaged about 20mins/game; I am not sure whether there were some overtime games in there, but I think so, so it's not that far away from Tavares and Matthews TOI).
Babcock is a good coach; in order to evaluate how good a coach is, you need a bigger sample size; normally you look at points/season. Strong indication he is indeed a good coach.
The only issue I have with Babcock's coaching is that he does not know how/when to use a timeout.

I'm baffled you think that means anything. How does that change the fact he should have played much more? - RogerRoeper
Babcock sends Matthews over the boards more than any other forward on the team. Yeah, that means nothing.
Dude, I get it. You're retarded when it comes to Babcock. You want him gone. But at least female dog about something that's a thing.
This is not a thing. |

MIke Babcock established the relationship the Leafs had with Ilya Mikheyev and Pavel Datsyuk had a hand in convincing Mikheyev that he will want to play for Babcock. ... So that's interesting. Story upcoming. |

Not a bad trade to be honest. We would get some depth at C and a RHD, but I think we can get more for Nylander. |

I'm guessing they were also taking a page from the Flyers' drafting strategy: take centres, because a) in North America, that's where the best kids play when they are growing up; and b) you can always switch a centre to wing. |

Then explain last year when Tavres was not around? And why did he find so many shifts for Gauthier in the 3rd period of game 7? |

What the K-Mart UG taught me was that Malkin, who hadn’t won a MVP when his 2nd contract was signed, was in fact a MVP winner because he won after he signed...
WHAT. THE. (frank). - Steven_Seagull
Malkin was 2nd in MVP voting, behind only Ovechkin.
Then actually won it the next year (Conn Smythe and Art Ross), thus vindicating his contract. |

So Mikheyev signing pretty much signs the trade papers on Brown.
Maybe Ennis too. |

If Malkin uses a Russian toilet and Ovechkin uses a Bidet, then we can trade Nylander for a box of wet wipes and Daenerys Stormborn's Starbucks coffee cup. |

It's felt like Brown was gonna be traded since earlier in the year.
I also wouldn't be shocked to see some team offer Anus a contract more than the $1 million or less the Leafs probably will. |

Yeah but now they actually have a replacement at half the price.
He's bigger, he can score, he can pass and he kills penalties. And plays RW. |

I think there's a chance (a small one) Gardiner signs a 1 year deal with the Leafs.
His numbers weren't that great, he was injured and the "Game 7" thing has followed him around the past two years.
Maybe he just takes something the Leafs can afford to rebuild his value. Leafs get a cheaper deal, he gets the chance to make more next year. |
