So which fan bases have made total asses of themselves where the Leafs are concerned. So far, I got

Vancouver - albeit the derp hit a peak years ago, since then they have mostly disappeared

Buffalo - I guess 10 games won by 1 goal late in the third, or in OT and Skinner being on an 85 goal pace really masked the fact that you were poop all along

Islanders - Gee, who would have thought a goalie beating the odds for a whole season would make a very average team look better than it is... oh wait, I know, we did.

Montreal - meh, I got nothing. I expect Toronto-Montreal chirping, and the Habs deserved a playoff spot this year.

Not a centre, not a goal scorer, and not a winner (in the NHL).

The 3 biggest things that seem to inflate guys contracts. A 4th could be being a UFA, I guess?

EDIT: Also, played with John Tavares who made his points improve by almost 30. There isn't really any justifying him wanting Matthews money.

Malkin won the Calder with 33 goals and 85 points. Then he followed that up when he scored 47 goals (4th most), 106 points (2nd most) along with 10 playoff goals and 22 playoff points (4th in playoff scoring) and went to the Cup Finals. Widely considered the 2nd or 3rd best player at the time behind maybe only Crosby and Ovechkin.

All you did here was prove how stupid the Matthews contract really was because Matthews has done none of those things but still got paid like he did.

Also to be noted, Malkin's 3rd year, he won an Art Ross, Conn Smythe, scored 47 goals, 113 points along with 14 playoff goals and 36 playoff points, another list of things Matthews didn't do in his 3rd season.

Honestly, the Habs fans on this board, except for a few obvious trolls, don't chirp the Leafs fans much at all. Frankly, I think they don't much give a poop about the Leafs one way or the other, except of course to hope we don't succeed... which is 100% expected.
