I see what your saying but I’m even more adamant that we don’t draft Turcotte because of the footage I saw of him against Dubuque. Sure he scored but man did he get bounced off of pucks. He would try to push the play and his small frame just got manhandled at least a half a dozen times. Not to mention when tried to cut to the net from the right wing he gets pushed to the back of the net leaving him with only one play and that is a pass to the front of the net which never connected in that game.
I watched Cozens doing the same plays and wow what a difference. His power frame and his skating are worlds apart from Turcotte. Cozens dictates the play he wants to go to th net, he goes to the net and defensemen have a hard time stopping him. On one play he even smashed the goalie and puck into the net. Outstanding and that’s what’s missing on the CBH. - gifman
When was the game you saw - was it just after he got back from having mono?
Turcotte is 3 inches shorter than Cozens but he's actually about 5-10 pounds heavier. Turcotte is pretty stout and when I've seen him play he doesn't look anything like what you saw.

I have to agree, I see him winning pucks staying balanced.
His skating is 10, his all around dee is an 8 right now.
Look, I will you all there are many options and the scouting staff will sort it out and it doesn't look like there will be on this board in 3 years saying the forward taken at 4 or 5 is way better, because it is mainly about where you feel the the hawks team long term gains the most with the prospect taken.
He will be a handle the media kid, a on ice leader and will have to be perfect and willing to play the new game for 200 feet.
Like I said if Kelley thinks it is Bowen Byram, I will go with the flow, or if it is Dach, or another big boy, I am willing to wait and see just what bonus picking 3 gave us...but for us to be complaining about the options is plain silly...it sit a rare chance to get better faster with close to guaranteed addition of an NHL future player who COULD wind up more than "good."

Benn is a turd in this game. Blues are totally controlling this game, but this is one of those games where Dallas wins on some fluky goal. |

It appears rather obvious that the Blackhawks are due to draft a certain type and with the #3 are able to do so.
As wiz said it could be a big boy but if they really are sold on a big dman - at least some physical compete willingness - that would complement the small skill dmen prospects. I see Pods as darkhorse. My choice is Cozens but will he be available. Hughes is good but a big waste when you have needs and Cozens plus other physical with skill forwards is available |

its blows vs bishop...stars are chasing and defending the entire game...when they get the puck they can't do anything with it...
oh and BTW the typical non calls from the 3rd into the OT...blows with no penalties through 80 minutes...sure... |

Meh (as they say).
You know it’s gonna happen - or not happen. Some stuff coulda been called, but I haven’t seen much to get upset about.
Just enjoy the game as it is. |

If they both played in USHL there is no way they should play nhl next season. Wiz had some notes about Turcotte plans but i have not heard about Cozens. I doubt that Blackhawks would.rush either kid. |

Question for the board:
Is Bowen Byram NHL ready?
If so, does Stan grab him?
Finally, if that’s the case which Hawks defensemen would you be most willing to move to fetch another asset that they need?
- Bjm84
No one but Hughes and Kakko are going to play next year.
Can I answer tomorrow because after his team scored ONE goal tonight and Prince Albert score EIGHT, I want to know how many he was on for...
St. Albert 8 - Vancouver Giants 1. game three |

1) No, at least not thriving right away. Better to let him develop another year but if he does make an NHL roster, I could see him with a similar growth curve as many other youngsters: start strong out of the gate like gang busters, hit a wall big time by Thanksgiving or December, then go through growing pains the rest of the season and into the sophomore year somewhat similar to Ekblad and Hanifin. I think he will be a top 3 defender in the NHL, possibly a #1, just not right away.
2) No, I think the Hawks pick a forward at #3. The pool of candidates seems to be growing and the rankings will fluctuate as they leapfrog each other between now and draft day. Assuming Hughes and Kakko go #1 and #2, the Hawks look to take one of Cozens, Dach, Podkolzin, Turcotte, Krebs, Caufield, or Zegras. Best player available is a priority and I would add a player who gives 100% every shift and in every zone which boils it down to Turcotte, Krebs, or Zegras (IMO).
3) Gustafsson. Trade him this summer for a second 1st rounder + another asset or two similar to the Hartman trade. Or trade him for an RFA forward whether 3C or bottom 6 winger. Doubt he could garner a top 6 forward without expanding the trade more on the Hawks end. |

Massive difference between boys playing on all star teams in U18 tournaments and the men pounding the crap out of each other in the Stanley Cup playoffs. It's unfair to expect them to be at all meaningful at the NHL level just a few months after they are drafted.
Can u imagine a Bovqist or Jack Hughes playing in a heavyweight battle like the game tonite or tomorrow's out in San Jose.
Draft the best player available and develop him for a couple years at progressively tougher levels, not the NHL where they are over their heads. |
