Do you think they hired Therrien and Yeo to not be behind the bench. It's pretty safe to say that with an entire new coaching staff, that a lot of going to change. Coaching is results oriented so there is ample justification to fire Lappariere but there is also the realization that the Flyers PK issues were not coaching related. - MJL
So Lappy gets ANOTHER pass because of players on ice? This was the excuse 2+ years ago when there was also just reason to let him go.The head coaches haven't even got the number of passes as him.
There isn't much sense to make out of it other than they clearly feel he's the best option out there for this PK, which I think we all are just to question at this point. |

Who does Ian Laperriere have pictures of ? - twpguy
I used to say Hextall but that's clearly not the case. Has to be Holmgren, right? |

Lappy got a pass because he actually got his poop together and fixed the PK. The PP never did. |

I’m not a big Michel Therrien fan. He’s been the head coach of the hated Montreal Canadiens twice and Loathed Pittsburgh Penguins but I also feel like he’s a coach that needs to filter himself and gets players traded. That’s just being a cancer himself.
With this said, it is interesting having two assistants that were once head coaches themselves, with a long track record. Out of Vigneault, Therrien and Yeo, you want Vigneault to be the top dog. Vigneault carries himself very professionally, his success is still pretty fresh and he’s been in the nhl since as far as I can remember.
The Flyers have their staff. Go out there and fill in the holes within the roster. I already really want Brian Boyle who is a veteran leader, with size and knows his role as a bottom six center and penalty killing specialist, who is also a solid faceoff man. |

I would, yes. I think Fletcher wanted to go that way for sure. And Vigneault, as I noted in today's blog, has always had at least one former NHL HC on his staff of assistants (Dave King in MTL, Rick Bowness in VAN, Scott Arniel and later Lindy Ruff with NYR and now Therrien and Yeo in Philly) because his style is to manage by consensus.
There is no one right or wrong way to assemble a staff. I'm neither excited nor disappointed by the coaching staff that's in place. I'll wait and see how they come together, which is going to be judged by wins and losses. The real key to this offseason, however, is player personnel moves. - bmeltzer
Yes, it really is just good that they got the decisions on the assistants done. Now the roster work will be the most interesting.

Like I said with my previous post, coaching was never the issue with the PK. The addition of new coaches, some changes are going to be made regardless of who is in charge of the PK. In line with Bill talking about player changes, it's the same with the PK. Players have to be better and they were in periods of play with Lappariere in charge of the PK. |

Like I said with my previous post, with the additions of Therrien and Yeo, do you think a change is going to made ? So what do you want, a public flogging in the town square? - MJL

Anyone questioning the Flyers bringing back Laperierre are just members of "Team Negative" Complaining for the sake of being a whiny female dog.
The Flyers have professional hockey executives running the team, not Monday morning QB's who post on a website. They clearly know better. - PLindbergh31

80 years from now, Lappy will still be in charge of the PK. He will also be singing a duet of "God Bless America" with Lauren Hart's daughter before every important game.
Get used to it, sheeple. |

You see it all over the league. You’re seeing it firsthand. Coaching is having a bigger effect on teams as the playing field keeps evening out talent wise. This was the biggest part of the Flyers offseason. The new coaches |

We haven't even had the draft or free agency yet. Of course this is the biggest part of the off-season right now.
Its literally either these hires or the statue fiasco. |

Gretzky, Roy, Housely immediately come to mind. Idk if you can can even name 3 great players who made decent coaches in the last 25 years. |
