Do you see Koskinen as an asset or liability?

Right now I see him as an overpaid liability, otherwise your GM wouldn't be looking for a starter.

- VANTEL

Well he's better than Talbot was and behind a better D core with a few additions should be ok. They are kind of in the 'maybe' stage on Koskinen right now kind of like where we were on Marky not too far back lol

Holland said today we have a great young core and top priority would be a new coach , a goalie and get rid of bad contracts.

My first thought was Marky Eriksson and for Lucic and 8 th OA. Both teams retain 2.5 mil on Loui and Milan for future trading purpose.

- VANTEL

That is a long time to retain, we already have Luongo on retention until the Apocalypse.

Update: Seider still > Soderstrom

Cam Robinson just tweeted about half an hour ago expect Seider to go earlier than you think

But they are not changing the D and he is still a 30 year old maybe. I will say it again it sounds like a lot of money for a back up.

IMO, he is 2nd best defenseman in the draft.

He could be . He doesn't have any spotlight though. Everyone is talking about the other top 14

Seider also reportedly has a should issue, injured the same should twice. That will likely have him drop to the bottom half of the 1st. Could be worth trying to move up from our 2nd for.

What kind of asset would have to go with the 2nd, to move up into the 1st?
If it cost Goldobin or
a Hutton fine.

Would you trade our 10th overall pick so someone would take Loui off our hands?

Yup, IMO it’s Byram, Seider, York. Only D in my top 15.

The trade is the 8 th OA for Markstrom

Fans are getting caught up in the hype of this draft and my opinion it is the same thing like last year with Bouchard Dobson Wahlstrom Boqvist Farabee.

These players are going to take two to three years to develop (or more if like Juolevi
)

Oilers in the minors have Tyler Benson who had a very good year in the minors, Yamamoto and Puljujarvi. Is it really that important for them to select another
winger that might help in three years time?

They need a goalie Lundqvist or a younger Markstrom to help now in McDavids prime years.

They also need to get rid of bad contracts. The very least of their issues should be drafting another top 10 player to help them in three years.

Could I get some evidence of this?

I like this study. There are a lot out there. Top5 picks are obviously the best, but 6-10 have also contained some of the best players. Imo you dint trade out of tge top 10 unless it’s a loaded draft and you like 6-7 guys when it’s your turn.
There’s a lot of good studies that just end up looking like this: https://www.broadstreetho...aft-pick-value-trading-up

The model in that one is strong

There’s no evidence, only opinions... & I agree with him. The teens are no-mans-land in this draft. You could easily get a better player at 22 than is taken at 14. Depends on how everything shakes out of course... But trading back from 10 is Draft Russian Roulette (this yr) IMO.
- DrChristianTroy

Trading down isn’t worth it. Value of picks declines rapidly after 12-13.

Sounds like evidence. He provided a chart of previous draft picks from years and years. Only problem is that all drafts are not equal. Who is drafting for what want need and BPA is different.

There certainly is a pick value chart but I checked out a few trade downs and they were nowhere near what value was perceived to move a few spots either way.

Hasn’t shown much offence. He could up very good, but Soderstrom has the bigger shot dispite being a smaller dude

Every draft is different. But take it as evidence if you want (I agree regardless).

He really does value pro euro players that play with speed and skill.

Check out his rankings from last season and you will get a sense of it was maybe an off year for his rankings compared to where players where drafted.

Everybody has their own opinions. I have players I like, he has players he likes. I said If I was drafting and the players I wanted were not there, I would trade down.

You can agree with him all you like.

I really don't pay a lot of attention to anyone's lists . I do value their insight on their views of players though.
