I want the Avalanche to prove once again that Experience is over rated
- 1970vintage

Teams I don't give a poop about:

Bruins
Hurricanes
Blues
Sharks
Avalanche

So I pretty much have no emotional investment in this Cup final. But that's ok because the hockey's been quite entertaining.

How can I find these threads? Also, I almost agree regarding Jake. I don’t like him, but on a production per $ ratio he is currently better than Nylander. Will be interesting to watch Virt, Nylander and Ehlers over the years

I’d be very surprised to see nylander struggle as bad next year

Heroes vs villains, I hope SJ wins the cup too

STL.

no cup since 1967...would be nice to see it happen for them.

But if Binnington wins a cup as a rookie goalie Petey can kiss the Calder goodbye lol

He'll be a great reg. season player if he plays a full season barring injury.

But his playoffs will be in question when the going gets tough out there.

After getting a chance to watching Nylander during this playoffs I was surprised at his size. Didn't think he was that big. He goes to the corners and front of the net. IMO, he doesn't shy away from contact.

He just didn't have a great playoffs like most of the leafs.

Pretty small sample size ....this year was a complete crapshoot for him ...his numbers arent that terrible in the prior two playoffs after good reg seasons ...it’s not like he’s expected to lead the team with the other players on the leafs

I think it’s easy for posters in here to rag on him given :

He’s a leaf
JV draft year factor
Held out into the season
He’s a leaf

Oh, I don't care about any of these teams either. I just want to shatter the narrative that you need "Jay Beagle" to win the cup. Sure, "insert savvy veteran name here" helps, but in Colorado it's Nate Dog driving the bus, not their 4th line C.

I would happily have Nylander on Bo's line. He produces well, good for 60+ points. He also had 3 pts in 7 playoff games which is not terrible production, expecially for the losing team. The leafs only had 13 goals in the entire 7 game series, that means Nylander was in on 23% of the goals scored by the team. He was also a positive +/- on a team that got outscored 22-13. His cap hit is worth the overall production, and he is better defensively than guys like Goldobin. Probably on par with Boesers defensive abilities. If we traded for him, I could see him putting up around 70pts regularly and helping Bo produce more as well.

Sharks are doing a much better job on him than the flames did

They are getting other players producing

Since they lost Calvert they haven’t looked as good

How’s that for your narrative lol 😉

The signing was never about winning the Cup. You know that. Now, I'm not saying that it was a good signing or you need to like it. But, you have the narrative wrong....

He's a Leaf therefore he bites a pillow hard. No other reasonable argument can be made. He's a Leaf, therefore, a pile of poop....

Sorry, I shouldn't have used Jay's name specifically. It's more about the over paying for experience narrative. Experience is gained in the playoffs sure, but Chicago's super youngsters weren't experienced when they won their first cups.

and to Red's point, I doubt Calgary will learn anything from their first round flop (i.e. this experience won't help them in the future), their team just isn't good enough...

I think they definitely can learn from the avs series

Whether they did or not is another thing
