Two D targets for me are Spurgeon and Larsson.
And I wouldn’t mind using Kadri as the bait. - Santo_44
Yes. Defence is priority two. After Marner decides where he wants to play. Bet my last dollar Kadri is gone. Something fishy about not traveling with the team to Boston. |

I’m impatient.
And I don’t think Cleveland has a chance anymore...the Marlies are too good. |

I’m sure there was some frustration from Dubas towards Babs and of course Nylander...but both are elite at what they do and deserve a 2nd chance.
Kadri? He’s (frank)ed up bad twice. Will he get a 3rd chance? My bet is he only gets one if Dubas doesn’t find an equal trade. He’ll be shopped. |

Watched the first 2 home games. Man, that Marlie team can move the biscuit really slick. Speaks volumes on the coaching. |

Oh for sure, I think Minny prefers to keep him. But they are also a team that keeps underachieving and is getting older.
Does Kadri and a Marlie that’s ready do it? |

The defense has been pretty incredible.
Sandin has been a monster. Liljegren has upped his stock after faltering a bit.
Howell just stepped out of junior and looks great already.
A good mix of size and speed upfront as well.
And oh....no poopty goaltending which was the only thing holding them back this season. |

considering Spurgeon will be a UFA after next season and Kadri has 3 more years at 4.5 (decent value)
Leafs shouldnt have to add, but that doesnt feel like a Dubas thing to do (trade value deal for pending UFA)
Id also like to know they have a suitable replacement for Kadri before trading him |

Well maybe I overvalue Spurgeon a bit...but I see him as a top 2 guy who’s extremely underrated.
Minny will want that extra year of a good contract because of the Suter and Parise contracts where the Leafs will be in decent shape at that time.
Imo Spurgeon>Kadri but if both teams see a hole filled it could work.
And I think Nylander is fine at C. I think it’s more valuable to have a Muzz-Spurgeon pairing then Kadri at C over Willy.
3C can be addressed at the TDL if need be. |

Goalie playing very well. Wonder if Scott or Woll will be in the lineup there next year. Not sure where their contracts stand. |

I think that I'll go to sleep. I think that I'll use a Borg regeneration console. Resistance in futile. #Keep America Great 2020 #Make Canada Great, after Trudeau 2019 There, snarl away, I'll be zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz! I'll be dreaming of Nylanders departure on July 2nd. - PrinceLH
Bad news comrade. When you wake up it'll be years from now, Nylander will be on Legends Row, and OAC will be Chancellor of the World Government. |

I really like Muzzin. But I know a lot of folks were against the trade thinking we should have gotten more. If you pair him with some one like Spurgeon, that will be one pairing that we can move forward with. And trust in every game.

Yup, it would be one of the stronger pairings defensively in the league.
Then you can have Rielly/Dermott run free.
Shelter the bottom pairing.

It's a good thing Max wasn't responsible for Legends Row outside ScotiaBank Arena.. It would be 5 Hyman statues, 1 for Fedorov and one for Jagr - PatC80

I think honestly I would prefer Dermott with Muzzin and put Spurgeon with Reilly to really let Reilly rush and be offensive more. Dermott on the top pairing is putting a ton of pressure on him and not sure he is really ready for it just yet. |

You don’t want Dermott in shutdown mins.....
And Rielly will be able to rush if he gets the opportunity to. Having Muzzin/Spurgeon facing the tough competition allows this.
It’s what Babs was doing in the playoffs. Except the anchor that is Z will be gone. |
