Rasmus Sandin was picked by the Leafs 29th last year.

He’s expected to be in the Leafs top 4 next year after absolutely crushing it in the AHL.

But nothing like that could possibly happen to us

I really wanted him in the draft.

And in 2 years when Dahlin is in his prime and ROR’s career is winding down I pray people shut the (frank) up about it finally.

Good god these guys were part of the WORST TEAM IN FRANCHISE HISTORY

- OneKaneOneCup

What does one have to do with the other?

The value of the ROR trade has zero to do with picking Dahlin first.

The value should have been better, plain and simple. Again I wanted him gone. But Botts got fleeced.

It has everything to do with it.

Maybe if he didn’t orchestrate his way to a trade after the team had a 62 point season more GM’s would be itching to bring him into the locker room.

He had little value after his comments and his contract

Just like Nylander, Risto, Mitts, Grigorenko, Girgensons, Armia.
- ImThatGuy

Risto is a second pairing d-man whose career is nowhere near finished. Mitts has only played in what 80 games ? Nylander is a kick in the pants but still has time to turn it around. Armia played very well this year in his 3rd line role and brought back return in a trade. Girgorenko was used as a trade chip, Girgensons just flat out sucks and I got nothing for you there.

It kind of proves my point that banking on 7th overall pick to be a huge part of the future has not worked out so well in the past. I wouldn’t crown anyone yet.

I mean apart from debating Skinner’s value yesterday I’ve agreed with every other post you’ve had on this side account.

Rick Nash wasn’t signing in Columbus orchestraded a trade out and was only willing to go to NYR.

They still got better value than Botts did for ROR.

Regardless of feelings toward ROR and I dislike they guy, he is a damn good player. A top 20 Center.

The Sabres got hot garbage in return for him.

I mean, do you really think Botterill turned down better offers?

There were two teams with interest and cap space, Montreal and St. Louis.

Montreal’s GM basically said he wasn’t willing to give up much for him.

Blame ROR for wanting to leave

Some people were saying we should have held on to him for one more year. Maybe his value would have gone back up.

It's kind of funny that we're having the same conversation about Risto right now.

There were two teams interested in him that were willing to eat the roster bonus.

Other teams were interested if Peggy was willing to pay the bonus.

It’s really on him.

I would go with Bobby Brink at 30, unless Spencer Knight is still on the board. Alex Vlasic will be my sleeper at this pick.

I don't see a trade up or frankly trading down doesn't make much sense to me either. There will be a very good player at 30.

Interesting that they signed this kid but Marcus Davidsson signed a 2 year deal with Vaxjo in the SHL.

Not sold on the idea he'll make the team, unless they make drastic changes to the bottom 6. He should start the year in Rochester but his deal precludes him from doing that. Maybe he'll turn heads at camp.

They stopped?

When the trade sets your franchise back, it’s always talked about.

I didn't know that. If true, doesn't say much about the Buffalo job if an AHL coach declines.

Nero fiddled while Rome burned

How anyone can be excited to pick at 7 and 28 when we're staring down the barrel of another tank year is beyond me
