Nero fiddled while Rome burned
How anyone can be excited to pick at 7 and 28 when we're staring down the barrel of another tank year is beyond me - jcragcrumple
The picks don't excite but the real story will be if Botts makes a trade or possibly two at the draft. The draft nerds will find it exciting in some way. |

Risto is a second pairing d-man whose career is nowhere near finished. Mitts has only played in what 80 games ? Nylander is a kick in the pants but still has time to turn it around. Armia played very well this year in his 3rd line role and brought back return in a trade. Girgorenko was used as a trade chip, Girgensons just flat out sucks and I got nothing for you there. - Pegullaville
Didn't Girgensons outscore Armia this year from the 4th line? |

Report yesterday from Friedman(?) or one of the TSN guys was Keefe would decline if offered. - ImThatGuy
Friedman also said in the same interview that Buffalo wants to talk to Toronto about Babcock as well.

This team has been bad for 9 years now?
They have Eichel and Dahlin.
Not much else to be excited about.
If Skinner walks this team is bottom 3 next year, IMO |

Rasmus Sandin was picked by the Leafs 29th last year.
He’s expected to be in the Leafs top 4 next year after absolutely crushing it in the AHL.
But nothing like that could possibly happen to us - OneKaneOneCup

Ryan O’Reilly basically walked and we went from 62-78 points.
We would’ve been better if goaltending didn’t fall off a cliff.
It will be ok.
Botterill has to make a few savy moves |

Seriously. Early returns on some of JB’s picks look solid.
Have faith.

No it won't. Everyone sucks, everything sucks, the only good thing in the world is darkness, ROR is a god. |

Losing the cap space for a guy that was never getting this team to a Cup was the real value in that trade. No matter how bad this trade looks short term, this team is better off for it in the long term. |

Make sure to ignore the Skinner trade when recognizing the ROR trade and the reasons for his departure. |

What's partially amusing to me is the fact that just about everyone wanted his sorry ass off the team. Now the complaining and armageddon that he's gone. |

Agreed. He was a good player.
Since February he’s been performing like he did as a Sabre.

What you say doesn't matter, because we were forced to trade ROR for underwhelming players and picks. |

The Hurricanes seem devestated. The Isles were in no mans land when tavares left too. It takes a team to have success. The Blues play a fantastic team game and have great structure, have great goaltending. Maroon-Bozak-Thomas and their depth on defense is what makes them great. The Sabres suck because we have no depth and poor goaltending. Skinner is fantastic but even his 40 goals doesn’t pull us out of the abyss, a $9M dollar contract though might affect how we can pay to acquire depth on this team to roll 3 lines going forward. If Olofsson gives you 20-25 goals on Eichel’s wing and Skinner’s money is spent on an entire functioning 3rd line we are a much better team. |

Ruotsalainen apparently has wording in his contract that prohibits demotion to Rochester. Similar to Antipin. If he doesn't make the Sabres out of camp, apparently he needs to go back to Finland. Fully aware that he signed a 3 year ELC, Botts must not have an issue with this. The Finnish journalist on WGR doesn't believe he's ready for the NHL, and would likely be after next season.
Could all be hogwash, so if you see him benched for 4-6 games in a row, you'll know why.
Edit:
If he doesn't make Sabres out of camp, he goes back to Finland this season. After 19-20 is over, he can report to Rochester, and for 20-21, there are no restrictions as to where he can play.
I'm glad Botts was proactive here and locked him up before his demand raised. You treat him just like another prospect, but he plays in Liiga instead of Rochester. |

With Eichel, Dahlin and Skinner all playing great, this team had one of the worst seasons in history after a fluky 10 game streak.
Discuss. |

Well yes. The Sabres have up a crap ton to get him and then shipped him out for a first round pick.
It set this team back. It’s not a good look.
Especially if Skinner walks. |
