So... an interesting trade proposal came up in the NJ thread.
LD/3rd for 2019 1st Overall + Anderson + Speers + Severson....
I don't know how I feel about that. A part of me wants to do it. A part of me doesn't. - EdmHockeyMan
Absolutely not. Hughes is the 2nd coming of Johnny hockey and we just saw what he was capable of in the playoffs. LD is a top 10 player in the league now, even higher to some. You dont trade those away for bit parts and a maybe. |

Would the Oilers entertain offers for the 8 pick?
I keep hearing how they need NHL ready players, so I was thinking something along the lines of
Kreider, pick 19-20 (from Jets) and if that isn’t enough throw in Vesey or Namestnikov...for the 8 pick.
I don’t think they’d trade that pick, but figured I’d ask lol. I’d think they feel some pressure to start making the playoffs again, rather then waiting on a kid to pan out in a few years - Slimtj100
This idea has my interest. |

Personally I have zero interest in trading a guy that just got 50 goals and 100 points

I would happily trade the pick of the right deal came along....Holland on the other hand will probably keep it

Then we go right back into the Taylor Hall loop for many years

I think it makes sense. Especially if the rangers pony up the money for Panarin. You also have to figure the allure of playing with McDavid peaks Kreiders interest for a long term deal, he could light it up with him. He needs someone to feed him the puck and match his speed |

Nope.
If they want Draisaitl, I’m asking for the (frank)ing moon. Something like 1st OA, Severson and Palmieri for Draisaitl, Lucic and a 2020 1st. |

Considering our organizational needs, I’d draft Kakko at #1.
Or I’d offer up the #1 and #8 at the same time for trade. |

I don’t see a Drai trade happening anyways

The offer would have to be ridiculous, and even then I might say no. My emotionally compromised fanboy heart is already too attached. |

i think Kenny will be fine. He was mandated by ownership to try and remain in the playoffs in DET. After Lidstrom retired he should of went to them and said its time to rebuild this thing. Hopefully he learned from his many mistakes in detroit. good luck Oilers. |

I can’t remember the last time Holland traded a young superstar he was building around....maybe red wings fans can confirm or deny

Assuming we could discuss the possibility of new contract with Kreider prior to the trade, then Kreider, Vesey and #19/20 would be a yes. Tomasino might still be available around then. |

That’s the issue imo. He’s an east coast guy. BUT, like I said earlier, line mates with McDavid has to be awfully enticing to him
So many guys at 8 for the rangers, I love the move for both teams |

It won’t be for now anyways because he had no reason to show any loyalty
