with the offsides reversal last night...

landeskog is going off for a change..his replacement is on the ice..

so he can still get called for offsides but not for TMOI call..

don't get it... either he was on the ice legally or not...

- bogiedoc

Don't you get a bit of leeway to have players going off to the bench? Maybe that is why there was not a TMM penalty called.

I think there is a grey area if they are both at the bench area. As long as he/his replacement aren't touching the puck and they are near the bench it is legal for too many men according to how I understand it.

According to the NHL, "[the] decision was made in accordance to Rule 83.3 (i) 'All players of the offending team clear the zone at the same instant (skate contact with the blue line) permitting the attacking players to re-enter the attacking zone

I DROPPED HIM TOO, tp slot #12, after his comments and lack lster showing lasmonth, but that doesn't diminish he could STILL be the third best player in the group and a dominant star:

He makes a strong case for Bowen Byram. I have not seen this guy play and I don't know enough about him, but just going to say that "if" he is that likely to be a #1D at the NHL level, hard to pass him up. If the Hawks end up with too many blueliners, those are assets that can be moved. I'm not saying they have to take him, but really excite to "probably" get a solid player.

I know it's just one guy's opinion but Button has Brayden Tracey and Jamieson Rees going now in the late 1st round. Was hoping the Hawks could nab one of them in the 2nd round. John Beecher is another 2nd rounder to eye.

Still interested in seeing if Bowman can acquire another 1st round pick for the latter half to draft a forward like Alexander Newhook, Samuel Poulin (Patrick's son), Ryan Suzuki or even Tracey or Rees if they are shooting up the ranks from 2nd round to the 1st.

Moritz Seider (D) and Spencer Knight (G) are also ones to consider with a later 1st round selection.

I wonder if our #2 this year and #2 next year gets us a pick in the middle of the 1st round this year. Too little? Too much? Add a prospect? Try to select Knight.

Boqvist, Byram, Knight. The next Keith, Seabs, Crow?

43 days until the draft.

2&2 + Seabs should do it

No...it is such a strong class and I don't think LA want to trade out do we can grab Knight.

I keep hearing this idea about Knight dropping to the second but I simply think that it is white noise...he is a terrific athlete, skater, and stronger than most of the forwards after the testing is done.

I hawk would have to walk back in the draft, and give up the second and a GOOD prospect to "secure" Knight in the mid -first if he is even there by slot#22...

this isn't a fair to middling' goalie prospect, imo.
He will be given a chance to make a difference as quick, or even quicker than Gibson was....

From everything I’ve read, Byram does have #1D potential, but some think he is also more likely to be a bust than the forwards because some see him as being overvalued by being the best D man in an otherwise weak draft for high end D men.

Good article in The Athletic yesterday summing up multiple takes on who they should take at 3. I like the idea of Byram and Boqvist being the Seabs and Keith of the next generation, but I also like the idea of Turcotte being the next Toews. It’s a tough spot, and the pressure is on not to (frank) it up. Turcotte/Cozens seem like safer choices to me, but you’d hate to miss on a franchise D-man.

So to sum up, I have no idea what they should do.

I think Tracey is REALLY good, and the last tournament kind took the "hidden" off his profile, so now teams will move him up.

I have him in the hawks second round slot on DraftSite.

Is Knight worth drafting that high? Carter Hart didn't go until #48 (2016), MacKenzie Blacwood #42, aiden Hill #76 (2015), Jussie Soros #99 (2013). The Hawks got the #1 rated goalie last year in Gravel.

I have no clue, but I just hope they at least don't pick a bust. Even if they don't get the absolute best player at #3, I hope they don't get a guy who doesn't pan out.

You know Ogg, I REALLY was gonna try to stay away from reading what all the experts were saying and then the Hawks dropped to #3 and I went and listened to that Button BS on the NBC Sporst Chicago talking heads podcast and came here in mental skirmishes about they prospects when I told myself BE TRUE to what you think and don't let McKenzie, Central Scouting, or any of these articles and lists affect me...and here I am, my psyche invaded, doubting myself, trying to just not go nuts reordering my seven rounds based on anybody else's opinion, because they probably got that opinion from yesterday another list.

I want like you to see them use their skill and it blossoms to the BEST pro player of the class, Hall of Fame, but in the back of my head don't screw it up and go for the fences and strike out.

When Jones was drafted by Nashville, WE saw how good he was defensively and the offensive abilities, but I honestly it is the reverse with the Vancouver Giant defender, I am not feeling that the main thing he has to do is there, so he can go on to be the super offensemn who picks apart defenses...LOL

I hoping they pick a center very thin in the organization. I understand not drafting for need and drafting the best available but at 3 need to fine the successor for Toews and this might the perfect opportunity to do that. Cozens or turcotte are my choices and i will keep saying until they pick whomever at 3.

So you see great Off and bad D in Bowen? most people made it sound like great off and AVG D, And AVG physicality. Boquist would be great off, bad D and bad physicality. just curious.

yes...and in some cases alot of leeway like 50 ft...one guy jumps on and the guy going off is still coasting to the bench...

so the player is technically ineligible (or its a penalty) but can still impact the play such as offsides...very strange...

I would think two 2nd rounders (2019+2020) and a prospect would be needed to gain a 2019 1st plus another draft pick (3rd round or later).

Another possible trade to gain another 1st rounder is Gustafsson. Thinking of the Hartman trade as a template. This would of course require the Hawks deciding now that they can do without Gustafsson until a D prospect like Boqvist is ready to take his place and actually live up to potential.

I would think Gusto should be worth more than Hartman, but I guess you got to figure in that Hartman was a trade deadline deal.

Penguins might be a Gustafsson taker for the 21st pick.
