BUT...they all still covet these types...come on, he finally was handed a spot and helped revitalize the Hawk PP.
I am not playing Devil's advocate as much as the league still sees Gus' offensive side negating the defensive inconsistencies, the same way a certain Vancouver Giants offense man is being scouted and touted... - wiz1901
Agree just one team that needs a pp quaterback and offense d man to overpay |

Yes, Carolina needs to stay out of the box. They’re only down by a goal - no time to lose discipline. |

1st penalty on Hamilton was that, 2nd one was a weak call. |

Literally. Worst officiated game I have ever seen. To boot, what we witnessed wasn't a hockey game. It was a screwed up hybrid between the WWF and roller derby. Bad enough that the refs put away their whistles. To add insult to injury, they then turn around and retrieve their whistles and nail one team only. Will not deny any Carolina penalties. But, the refs don't call much against Boston, do they? An absolute joke of a professional hockey game. The only people missing were Hulk Hogan in his prime, and Joanie Weston of the San Francisco Bay Area Bombers. |

Carolina gave that game away with 3 dumb penalties in a row.
WTF Dougie Hamilton ?? Get your head out of your arse.
The Canes had them on the run in P2 until the stupidity hit.
And once again a coach pulls the goalie with almost 3 minutes left and fails. You can not expect your players to play with last minute intensity for 3 minutes.
I've never liked it and it rarely works. Goalie out at 130 or 145 based on possession.
GO CANES in game 2.
Play Smart.

Hartman was young with hope of improving, Gus is no spring chicken and likely just had his “career year”. - Ogilthorpe2
I agree. I think he's gonna regress big time |

Which is why I want to trade him. Either his offense regresses, in which case I don't want his average at best defense on the Hawks, OR he keeps playing well, in which case we can't afford his $5M+ the following season. I think some team will be willing to part with a first. |

If the coaching staff let Gus play the game he wants to I think he'll continue to do well offensively. But what happens if the coaching staff insist he pick up the defensive side of his game? Does he work on it and continue to put up good offensive numbers or does everything fall apart? If there is a market for this guy I'd prefer to see the Hawk move him out and build a defense with guys who are at least average defensively. |

Gus may never be very good defensively. But there were indications that he was getting better defensively toward the end of the year. If Gus is just ok defensively (which would be a step up in class for him) the offense he brings makes him a valuable player on the team.
Stan will get one or two veteran 200' gritty forwards and a top 4 defender. Colliton will stress team D and PK in training camp. That will make all Dmen look better. Everyone needs to realize that a commitment to team D may mean Toews, Kane, ADB's points could decrease next year.

For one more season, and then he likely becomes unaffordable.
Trade him right (frank)ing now! *hangs up* |

I don't know about everyone else here, but I simply love that so many teams (who haven't even went/won a Stanley Cup) are having bouts of "what we gonna do about our Salary Cap crunch?"
After all the hawk "adjustments" that happened and still tow more Cups were won, this board was FULL of angry statements of incompetence.
I can't wait to (not troll, but look at) view the boards of many of these teams as their GMs apply solutions to their Cap problems. |

I see a striking facial resemblance on Kakko to a young Steve Larmer. Obviously he's bigger in size though.
Question is.....is it worth it for Bowman to seek out a trade to get that #2 pick to get him ??

Agree. And many of their fans think they will get equal value back for their players that have to go to relieve the cap pressure and ignore the fact that they will have throw in "sweeteners" to unload a bad contract.

And how many Hawk fans gave Stan poop for the Hawk's cap problems while refusing to credit or acknowledge that the cap problems the Hawks did have were well worth it after winning three Championships. |

Gus to someone for a mid to late 1st rounder than that pick and the Hawks #3 for NYR's #2? Wishful thinking, I know.

And don’t give him credit for the cap-forced retool after 2010 that got them to the 3-year run of 2013-2015? |

That was funny. I had a split screen on my computer and saw those two profiled for a bit. Didn't hear any audio of what was being said though. |
