Has Gus been traded yet?
Ironically enough, this team would have competed with Ottawa without Gus....how does that taste?
Remove the empty netters against and Gus is a plus player. Ended up -4.
Ground hog day again...trade gus, trade gus, trade gus.....
Some folks need new material.... |

Kubalik with a goal and an assist for the Czechs (so far). |

His goal was a great example of his release and finishing ability.
He should slide into the RW3 spot if he shows well at training camp. |

That would be ideal. I still like Kahun with either Debrincat/Strome or Kane/Toews, Kubalik adding depth on the third line would be awesome.
Edit: I wonder if the Hawks would try Kahun at centre (3C) if AA is dealt? |

Kubalick, Kahun, Saad has the potential for a beast of a third line.

2 but he is owed $2mil on july 1st then 5 mil over the next 2 years so he is a good value for a budget team. who does not want to spend 15 mil over 4 years on a 3rd line player.

I think the chances are good that AA is dealt.
As mentioned below, AA is owed a bonus on July 1st and I believe he'll be gone shortly afterwards. His M-NTC clause is completely removed after that as well so the Hawks can deal him wherever.
He's a solid player still but he hasn't fit on this team the last couple of years. |

so we stroke him a $2MM ck on July 2, and then trade him to AZ on July 3rd. |

No... no he is not and never was. - Tyler Cameron
He might be moving up!
I'll tell you, you watch both of those games and seeing Hughes getting rag dolled all over the ice, I'd seriously be thinking about which one I was going to take.
I understand that Hughes will get bigger, but you don't know how much.

How fast is Cozens? MacKinnon/Mcdavid type speed or a half step below that? I still think the hawks need game changing speed (with size) in the top 6.
The threat of speed keeps opposing Teams D from pinching and taking risks. I'm not sure we see the Hawks get pinned in their own end so much (and see opposing D pinch so much) if there is elite speed going the other wa
The Hawks don't have any elite speed in the top 6. Saad is probably the closest thing they have. - bhawks2241
Elite speed = just signed Soderlund. And as a checker maybe one day Fortin
Also Carlsson skates really well and Boqvist. Uncertain how well Beaudin. Gilbert ok. One day we might have a very mobile defence would like to see if they can handle puck control like some of our Cup teams did at times. If Kyrs pans out he has elite speed or good skater for third pair
Until further notice we have Gus and he skates well |

Actually though the four teams in the conference finals are not any faster than the Hawks.

No way. If Kakko goes #1 the Rangers will pick Hughes #2. |

Agreed. Once the signing bonus is paid I'd say 80% change AA is gone to a budget team like Ottawa, Carolina or NJ. I wouldn't expect much in return, maybe a 3rd and 5th. |

Cant they trade him before July 1st to one of those teams and include cash in the deal to pay the bonus?
Seems like a deep draft, would rather have picks this year. |

Don't agree except the Bruins maybe but they get away with murder most nights.
All the teams left have big/physical skilled guys that can skate.
Man do I love Tomas Hertl. |

Generally speaking, I agree. But they used to have Stahlberg. Just saying. They need someone with lateral speed (who gains speed as he crosses over) who knows where he needs to go as well as straight ahead speed. Speed without IQ is wasted. |

No, his bonus is paid July 1. They would have to retain salary now but that defeats the purpose of a budget team acquiring him (lower salary than cap hit). Cash can’t be part of any deal. |
