yeah, I actually tend to agree overall that goalies don't have the best trade value

what they ultimately do here with Lundqvist, Shesty and Georgiev is one of most fascinating decisions to be made this off season

my personal preference is if Lundqvist could ride off in the sunset and Shesty/Georgiev becomes the Russian version of Beezer/Richter circa 1991-92

Do I think he would get a haul, no, but I would say he is definitely at the minimum worth a 1st +. He's 23, cost controlled and was really good in front of one of the worst defenses

He's not getting a 1st +. Although some of the guys ahead of him only played in a couple games, he was 27th in the league in save percentage. Carter Hart and Matt Murray are young goalies who would get hauls, I'm just not seeing it for a guy who stats say he was sort of average and only played 30 games. There might be a GM dumb enough to give a 1st for him. I just wouldn't expect it.

Just to be clear, I like Georgie, but there really hasn't been enough hard evidence to suggest that he's some kind of elite goalie or even markedly above average goalie there.

I disagree. I think the age, the money and what he has shown when he was given the chance is worth it. imo Talbot I said was worth a 2nd + when a lot of people thought he would easily get a 1st. Georgy is worth more than Talbot

If Sorokin really does come over (I think he does) it's going to be really awesome to have two goalies from the biggest two teams in Russia playing against each other as cross-town rivals.

I never understand why people get so attached to players. I loved Travis Hamonic but when he got traded for a 1st and two 2nd's I was over the moon.

He is. Personally, I wouldn't be against keeping both of these young goalies and taking two shots at the dart board as to which one is going to turn into a rock solid starter. But, that's hard with Hank around for another two years.
