Well that’s what I’m saying, if your trading up for Caufield we’ve already drafted Hughes.
I wonder if the Rangers would part with Skjei, buffalo could afford him. They’ve gotta start making the playoffs like Edmonton. I don’t think they’d want prospects. Sjkei and 20 for 7 and maybe another piece for us - Slimtj100
Id do 20+Skjei for 7 |

Is it outlandish to think Kakkos ceiling is Jaromir Jagr?😬
He reminded me of him today basically swatting away a would be defender |

I really hope the Devils don’t take him but Hughes isn’t a terrible consolation prize |

If you were a GM what trade would you honestly propose to the Rangers to acquire Skjei or Vesey? |

Skjei is under contract for many more years, Vesey is an RFA ----- totally different players with totally different values.
I view Vesey as an add-on in a deal, Skjei is more of a cornerstone piece. However, trading Skjei at all would mean we would be selling low on him, and that could be a big mistake... |

I think either one has to be a part of a package. Do you think Skjei and 20 would land us in the 6-9 range? |

Brooks weighing in today on Hughes/Kakko:
Honestly, social media does not get any better than a subsection of Rangers fans acting all horrified over the prospect that the Devils might opt to select Kaapo Kakko first overall, thus allowing Jack Hughes to slide to the Blueshirts at No. 2.
Nico/Nolan? So far, the Swiss with the edge.
Tyler/Taylor? Still too close to call, the winger with a Hart but the center — a center — who has been healthier and has posted better numbers.
Jacko/Kakko? We’ll see. |

When I evaluate a player I try and imagine playoff hockey. Usually guys that are “softer” tend to have a tougher time in the playoffs. Look at Gaudreau, all that speed and skill but in playoff hockey when the holds get let go a little more, the physical play is allowed a little more etc, those “softer” guys really seem to have trouble. That’s why I don’t want Hughes. If we get him I’ll be happy, but I would prefer Kakko. |
