Avs have a good team.
I’m glad the Sharks are moving on.
I’d like to see SJS vs Boston.
With Big Joe winning it in Boston. |

At the Draft - Bobby Ryan, 2019 2nd round pick (Fla) and 2020 1st round pick (Ott) for 2019 6th round pick (Ott) and a player to be named later (Eriksson).
Canucks ship Eriksson on July 2 after paying the bonus and get well compensated for 3 more years of Bobby Ryan - the top 6 winger Benji is looking for to play with Horvat and Pearson. - 1970vintage
So rebuilding Ottawa saves 1.25 million over the next 3 years and gives up a first and a second for pretty much the same disappointment of a player ?

If you actually research it there is a big difference in actual money. After July 1 LE is only owed about 9m over 3 seasons but bobby is still owed 20.5m actual dollars. That is important to owners, especially Melnyk. |

I’ve seen this narrative in a lot of HB trade proposals ....after giving up a first this year in a bad trade ....does anyone think the sens are giving up firsts to save a few bucks real money and acquire Loui Ericsson ? Lol |

I don't think they're going to give up anywhere near a 1st for LE, but if they give us a 7th and take his contract I'll consider it a victory. |

No, they save $$$. They would owe Eriksson $9m for 3 seasons with a cap hit if $6m per season. They also save $22.5m from Ryan’s final three years. If there is one thing that Melnyk likes more than draft picks it’s saving money. |

It’s a real savings of $13.5 million, I would say that’s significant... |

The question should be, would Aquilini pay 13.5 million to get a 1st round pick? |

I doubt he’s giving up a first rounder to save money ...he’s losing that fan base already ...that would be another step backwards |

Fully agree. No way any GM/owner — even stupid Ottawa ones — gives up a first (lotto) and a second just to save a few million. That fan base would riot, and would be a huge nail in the coffin. |
