Do you really think he cares about the fan base? Really?
- Marwood

Without that fan base he won’t make any money

I guess he could move the team to Toronto

The question should be, would Aquilini pay 13.5 million to get a 1st round pick?
- Reubenkincade

as much as i don't like the guy, his history shows that he'll pay $$$ to improve the team. the problem i have with him is his vision on how to improve the team.

however, as others have said, i doubt that ottawa gives big to save on cap after the PR nightmare of a season that just finished.

I’ve seen this narrative in a lot of HB trade proposals ....after giving up a first this year in a bad trade ....does anyone think the sens are giving up firsts to save a few bucks real money and acquire Loui Ericsson ? Lol
- Redmile247

Look what Melnyk paid to save real money on Duchene just to save on Turris. The guy will gut his team to save actual money because he is trash.

I doubt he’s giving up a first rounder to save money ...he’s losing that fan base already ...that would be another step backwards
- Redmile247

I would be happy with Bobby + a 2nd for LE. Bobby is not buyout proof if we need the cap, and the extra 1.25m won't hurt us until potentially the final year of it(buy out year)

A nice timeline on the failure of the Sens. There's a rant about how cheap Melnyk is towards the end

Fully agree. No way any GM/owner — even stupid Ottawa ones — gives up a first (lotto) and a second just to save a few million. That fan base would riot, and would be a huge nail in the coffin.
- NewYorkNuck

You know why rich people generally stay rich? Because they care more about $13.5 million than you do.

Anyway, it probably doesn’t matter. I bet the Canucks are on Ryan’s 10 team no-trade list...

True...he's an American so doubtful he wants to play in Canada anymore.

Can't assume. He might be thrilled at the prospect of getting out of Ottawa and willing to play just about anywhere else next year.

lol true was just being a little sarcastic. But alot of American NHL players would choose an American team over a CDN one if given the choice. Taxed to death up here in Canada.

I've perused the discussion on Ryan for Eriksson proposal and all I have to say is.....

Why the (frank) would Ottawa, a rebuilding team, give up a 1st AND a 2nd with a salary dump for a salary dump?

That has to be one of the stupidest takes I've seen on this board in a while......and Vantel posts a lot!

Ottawa will absolutely NOT give up a 1st for any reason whatsoever....like wow.....

Now I could be an bumhole and misread th eproposal but (frank) me, does that ever make Canuck fans look idiotic.....

You definitely are an bumhole

Melnyk is a cheap piece of poop. He would save $13.5m in real dollars. That’s why he would be interested. If it makes you feel better, they could lottery protect the pick (in perpetuity).

Been told, don't expect the #Canucks to qualify the contract of F Brendan Gaunce. The former 1st round pick in 2012 can use a change of scenery and fresh start elsewhere.

Now we know why Pres hasn't been around.

Guilty as charged...

Under no circumstances will a 1st or a 2nd be going anywhere. You can take that to the bank......

If there is a Ryan for Eriksson deal to be made, it might involve a player like say, Duclair, or one of Ottawas 3rds in 2020......

there is a reason the belleville bulls are no longer a OHL team. Subban and Gaunce played for them
