Ratcliffe (my boy), Frost, and Farabee are my untouchables as far as Flyers prospects go, IMHO!! |

gotta go for a Carolina-St. Louis final because i think it would be funny to see Stanley Cup games draw fewer than 600 viewers on NBC |

Teams normally don't trade prospects with upside just for fun. - BashCH
of course not, but Habs already have a group a small forwards, why add another one if you can flip him for a good LD? I'm not saying giving him away for nothing, just filling holes elsewhere in the lineup. |

so i was talking to guy last night about NHL markets. if having a secondary market final is so bad for the league why put teams in these places? like we want to grow the game on one hand but then don't really want them to progress in the playoffs on the other. |

I'd prefer trading Lehkonen, Byron, Drouin or Shaw for a good LD. Suzuki is a right shot, not many of those on the team plus he's got the tools to be a good PP guy. Trading prospects like that can always come back to haunt you (see Filip Forsberg, Ryan McDonaugh)... |

those secondary teams pay the same expansion fee so there's always going to be an appetite to find more markets. and if they're run properly yes they do grow the game and the league benefits from healthy franchises (revenue, local tv viewership...) but when it comes to national television, ratings drive the contract value for the league. so if your marquee event features 2 mid market teams with zero star power, those games will be a terrible draw even by US NHL standards.
