Dude....I've lived thru those calls going against the Sharks for the past 25 years (hell, in the first 2 rounds this season alone) & it happens to every team at some point. It's what you do with the opportunities that present themselves. All DeBoer did last night was seize that opp to review the call (plus, if he was wrong the Avs very well could have swung that momentum they had into another goal on the ensuing power play) & it worked out.
Am I glad? Surely. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't.

My issue with it was that there was no definitive evidence he was offside to overturn the call on the ice. It was flimsy evidence at best and that is not supposed to overturn a call.
Besides that MacKinnon blatantly tripped by Karlsson and no call was a joke as was Rantanen being speared in the face and no call.
I will openly admit that I hate the Sharks and have for a long time, so yeah there is bias there, but this was rough to watch. |

Landeskog said it all post-game, he should've gotten off of the ice, period. Hockey. Great leadership and class, by the way...
How many Cups will the Avs win if they can keep that group together and healthy??
They will dominate.
And to the announcers who gave the Avs a 7-game tongue bath, yeah, MacKinnon was out of the game for 10 minutes last night (not like he would've played for all 10 of those minutes), but Pavelski was out for the previous 6 GAMES. |

That's fine, Dude. When it evens out in the wash and it's the Sharks getting screwed next round or in the SCF, I look forward to your response. |

It was absolutely offside and onus has to fall on the player going off the ice to move his arse and get off the ice, especially when the door is so close to blue line.
However I had a good laugh at all the gifs |

Technically speaking -it was actually the 2 line pass rule that was to stop cherry pickers, not the offsides rule.
Removing that actually enabled cherry pickers. |

I'm pi$$ed I never saw the Wings win the Cup in 2009. 4 Cups wasn't enough. |

The same thing happened to the Isles in Game 1 vs Pittsburgh. Matt Martin was (slowly) gliding back to the bench on a change. Was coming from the offensive zone. Tommy Mooseknuckle broke in and fired one past Murray. They eventually would review it and the back of Martin’s skate was slightly over the blue line. Had zero effect on the play. These are the kind of examples that need to be corrected |

He did the same thing that would have been done to him if it was an Avs goal that was a tiny bit offsides. It’s unfortunate and a terrible rule but it’s a rule. And one that has helped and hurt every team in the league at some point. Some in more critical manners than others

i'm more worried about the refs letting 95% of the infractions go uncalled game after game. If the league is so worried about getting it right, how about call everything by the book? |

Agreed. Apparently most fans say "Offsides" now. Makes me think of Gollum on Lord of the Rings. "Oh no! The Avs lostest the gameses and the serieses because they were Offsides!" Stanley Cup Finals is another one. It's always Stanley Cup Final to me. But that's another thing Ek and Gollum agree on. "Oh it's so precious! To win the Stanley Cup Finals!" |

"NHL needs to look to soccer"
Never thought I would hear those words in my life
It's coming from EK what do you expect.
Hockey should just get rid of the blue lines & let the players do want they want. The call was correct EK(Soccer LMAO) rule I believe it was 83.3I GB didn't come out of the zone & re establish himself, He just took his time coming off the ice & blew the play for his team.. Soccer & all their flopping players that's all the NHL needs now |

I wonder what Ek would be saying had it been the Flyers winning last night instead of the Sharks? 😂 |

If it's not offsides, fine. But then it's too many men on the ice. - EdmOilFan
Not really because Landy was not affecting the play. If that’s too many men, then nearly every change by every team is too many men. There’s almost always someone still half on the ice when their replacement jumps over the boards. |

Because it’s the playoffs so someone would have a man advantage for nearly 60 minutes. |

That's not a bad idea. But than the officials will feel rushed and likely end up making a poopty decision.
They just need to get rid of the offside challenge altogether.. - LeafGuy89
I’ve always said a 1 min cap should be brought in as well.
As for last night, I one thing I’m really not sure of is whether the officials understand the rules.
He was 100% offside since he didn’t ever clear the zone. If you are still in the zone when the puck re-enters, you’re not on-side just by touching the line. You have to exit the zone completely. No? |
