I thought Mitts was supposed to put up 50+ last year and contend for the Calder trophy. He didn’t look amazing last year.

It’s possible after his short look and success the previous year that he felt the NHL was easy and he didn’t have to try very hard. I truly hope he takes this offseason seriously, although we’ll have no way of knowing till he plays a bunch more.

If he doesn’t take off his shirt this summer we will know if he’s not training and I’m sure the guys will make “ fun “of him again

Some NBC ratings news. The news is good, and hopefully speaks to the appetite for fresh blood in the playoffs. Although I will say that with five Games 7 in the first two rounds, being up only 1% year over year is a little surprising.

Please make the playoffs next year, Buffalo

Gets roasted for hiring coach with no NHL head coaching experience, but people want Grönborg or Keefe. People don't want retreads, but get mad we didn't get AV or Maclellan.

No matter who gets hired people will be mad. Botts waited too long and missed out on so and so. Botts jumped the gun and should have waited for so and so.

I guess what we need is a fresh, young forward thinking coach that has plenty of NHL coaching experience, but is not a retread from another team. Also, has to be an offensive defensive mind or a defensive offensive mind.

I guess we have to get the Weird Science machine booted up

Who said next years season is already a write off ? If Skinner walks we aren’t allowed to make any signings or trades ? Even if that’s the case, I’d rather waste Eichel’s age 23 season that waste his entire career becuase we have a bunch of boat anchor contracts and guys who will be past their primes when it actually matters.

The negativity is remarkable

They were average goaltending away from 85 points

Pegula's job was to bring a Stanley Cup to Buffalo, or multiple like he said. His job wasn't to redecorate the waterfront or build more stores. If that's the case just have Rue Paul run the god damn team.

Pegula's job is to make money for Pegula. Nothing more.

I believe Botts knows what he is doing, and will do some positive things this summer. May not be a popular opinion on here, but it’s mine.

I'll reserve my judgement on Botts until i see what happens with:

1) with Skinner
2) with the coach

1) he has to sign Skinner
2) he has to hire a good coach

So Grönborg Signs with Switzerland and Now buffalo is left holding their jock strap.... nothing but a bunch of has-been coaches left.... Looks like it going to be another long year while dip sticks one and dip stick two take WNY fans money, claiming it takes time!!! wait until next year! This management team makes the bills from the pervious 17 years look A++. What a freaking joke....

Even the GM doesn't want to deal with his team right now while he plays in Slovakia. instead of looking to improve this team, that's a great look Jason!

I get that. Wonder what the sentiment was with Canes fans last summer. Essentially let skinner go for nothing. And coach brind’amour wasn’t a hot commodity. And here they are in ECF. I think part of the objective is finding the right mix of players and coach to motivate. In that his work this summer is huge and I do believe he will make some positive, albeit not glamorous moves.

his track record suggests he has no clue... Being hopeful is nice but I have zero doubt we are in the top 5 of the draft next year as well.

You have no idea who he's interviewing, what trades he's discussing, who he's targeting in the draft, who he plans on offering contracts to, or what time he sh!ts every day.

Who GIVES A (frank) ABOUT "LOOKS"?

If he jumped at the first candidate, you'd cry. He's taking his time deciding, and you're crying.

Newsflash: no one hired Grönborg.

That's mostly because the NHL is the most risk-averse league in sports.

Last offseason’s positive Botterill moves rocketed the team from dead last all the way up to fifth last. He then fired a coach that he said he wasn’t going to fire.

Some fans were extremely let down by this season, and I guess others thought it was just fine.

I don't agree with it, don't get me wrong. I think the guy deserves a shot, but people shouldn't act like he's a sure-fire thing. It's a risk, to be sure.

Botts has to get this one right. We demand it, he knows it. He was there, watching Phyllis bumble this every single day. I think he probably knows what that locker room needs.

If he wants to coach in the NHL, taking a head coaching job in a professional league next season is a good move. I believe it's his first.

Botts fanboys on here would’ve been right there in Niagara Square cheering for Scott Norwood. Don’t worry Scott, it’s ok, we still love you!!! What a bunch of losers.
