Well if that is the case then this team thanks to ownership is heading down a slippery slope. They need to change their sop when it comes to this team. Stop making trades and meddling in hockey decisions. If good coaches decline, ultimately the HC Botts hires will be a less than inspiring candidate. If they are getting this reputation, why would any UFA come here? I've said before, no big FA's will have any interest in Buffalo. Next season will be a cluster (frank). I see it already.

I think it might be worth pumping the brakes here a few times.

Two years ago Housely was one of the most coveted head coaching candidates, and Botterill was one of the most coveted GM candidates. The team has been a complete mess in the Pegula era, but for a lot of that time we were trying to be a mess. During the Pegula era, whether the Sabres' hires have been the right ones or not, they got the people we wanted.

We have NHL players waiving their no trades to come here.

Beane and McDermott are both seen as being very astute hires, and seem to be very happy with ownership.

Botterill is notoriously deliberate in everything he does. There are 4 or 5 other coaching positions that are empty along with ours, but nobody is claiming those franchises are Chernobyl zones.

How does this suddenly turn into Beady's world, where the Pegulas are toxic and nobody wants to do anything with them.

Calling an early shot.

Risto for Tyler Johnson will happen as main part of a deal.

- ImThatGuy

Hard to say no to that

He would have to waive his no-trade clause to come here, which is far from a guarantee.

Anthony Cirelli Should be the main piece for a Ristolainen trade if not you move on

He is a dinosaur of dinosaur coaches.

Listen to the interview on GR this morning.

Montreal reporter basically said don’t do it.

He’s boring and suppresses offense.

They have to move out cap.

JT Miller or Yanni Gourde would be the big piece coming back.

I'm not a Bills fan so I don't give a sh!t what they do so I guess I'll go along with what you say. If it's widely known around the league that the Pegula's interfere and potential coaching candidates ask the ex coach about how they run things, that alone is discouraging. Kim pushed for the ROR and Kane trades and look how that turned out.

They should hire a President of Hockey Ops and just sit on their money in Boca. I have zero faith this ownership group will do anything positive for this hockey team and the fans. It's a (frank)ing cluster (frank). Welcome to the abyss of the hockey world.

So we’re helping out other teams Miller is an ok player but the guy plays when he wants and gourde is a nice player but that new contract changed him imo

The player has to be Anthony Cirelli he’s a young Bergeron in the making I hit the drums last year that they have to get one of Robert Thomas Or Kyrou and they failed

Can’t make the same mistake again

Oh I agree they should stay away from grandpa. If they ask Keefe for an interview and he, not the Leafs decline, you got real problems when an AHL coach isn't interested.

That's far from established fact. Kane, I understand why people piece that one together, but the narrative on ROR changes by the day in terms of who the boogie man is. It's been ROR's fault, Eichel's fault, and now KP's fault

Oh I’m with you but if you are trying with Tampa you are taking cap back.

Tampa may be desperate as they are losing 4 D-Men to UFA.

Kane got run out of town in Winnipeg too and that franchise is doing just swell.

it wouldn’t surprise me, if it is true.

Both the Bills and Sabres have been basically a mess since they took over.

I'm sure you would have Tampa over a barrel if they still want Risto, due to there cap issues.

Great teams have 2 or 3 top-end players, and then have depth built in. They have the top-end part (we hope) in Eichel and Dahlin. Both O'Reilly and Kane not only depleted the team of depth when they were brought in, but their cap hits also hindered them from restoring it. As miserable as this season has been, and as much as it stings in the short term to see both of them in the Conference Finals, this team will be better off with both those guys of it next year and going forward.

The Bills have had more success in 4 years under the Pegulas than they did in the last 20 under Ralph. The Sabres, I will agree

I think the ROR deal was Botterill's reaction to the end-of-year comments and a desire to change the roster, not some coup plotted by Kim Pegula

They were the worst team in the NHL with Kane and O'Reilly on the team most of the season.

Paying them nearly $15M combined annually was a good idea long term?

What was the other part of that plan to improve the team? Go all in on those two while trading their only high value assets in Ristolainen and Reinhart?

You can always argue a team should get more for their big name players when they trade them, but that's also easy armchair speculation.

I've seen enough to realize that Botts hands are tied and it's the Kim show. It shouldn't be that way. The Pegula's have learned zilch in their 8 years of ownership.

Welcome to the abyss.

Seahawks released/failed physical S Kam Chancellor.
It is a procedural move, as 31-year-old Chancellor has not played since 2017 and announced last summer that he could not get cleared to return from his neck injury. An integral part of the Seahawks' "Legion of Boom" secondary, Chancellor was a hard-hitting, turnover-forcing machine who made four Pro Bowls.

So he will be signing with the Patriots next week.

It's the same argument as 2 years ago, but now it's KP instead of Russ Brandon. It was BS then, and it's BS now Imho.

There's no grand conspiracy here. Murray overpaid for talent, and Botterill has sold it for pennies on the dollar. That's why we're here. The Kim Pegula boogieman argument is a catch-all scapegoat for a series of poor decisions
