Richardson was supposedly high on tim murray's list...take if for what you will...eakins really does nothing for me...i'd hate stu barnes, plus he has no head coaching experience - Michael Pachla
Yea. That is pretty much my thoughts too. Just trying to introduce more names.
Richardson did pretty well on Montreal's staff this year.
It's a weird name but Guy Boucher did have Ottawa in the ECF in 2017... talent was gutted from the team and then Dorian sucked the life from the city. His MO has been the same in TB and OTT... great first year making the playoffs... then a tailspin and fired in 3rd year. IDENTICAL. |

good points...but with that track record, he's being hired to get fired in two-and-a-half years |

I think he adapts to his players more than you're giving him credit for. '05-'07, he let his horses run - jcragcrumple
Perhaps... I still think his 2015 Dallas team was so much better than that STL team. Dang Seguin injury. |

ruff was a good coach...and he wasn't just a defensive coach either...in the very least he'll play to the team's strengths and he should garner enough respect from Eichel and the rest to at least get this team going in the right direction...i'm not starting the hire ruff parade, just saying that they could do worse - Michael Pachla
And he knows the city, he is respected in the city, he has no negative connotations about living in Buffalo, he is a proven winner, he has experience working under the Pegula's. Am I missing anything? |

That's an issue then, unless JBotts has the balls to tell them it's his decision and hes the best fit |

If I am a betting man.... i bet Keefe but we have to pay good money for it. Which we will be ridiculed for.
-JVince11
We can hire Keefe, but we have to trade for Marleau, Zaitsev and Horton. |

It would be an interesting dynamic for Botterill to hire his future boss, if they went through with a succession plan concept |

This board hates the Huricanes because they were lucky the entire Sabres blue line got hurt in 2006.
That is why you'll be hard pressed to find a Sabre fan rooting for them.
It's San Jose all the way |

We've been criticizing the Pegula's for years for making naive and sentimental hires. This would take the cake.

SUPPOSEDLY... we asked for Thomas or Kyrou and they countered with making the draft pick a 2nd instead of a 3rd or 4th if we took Tage Thompson instead. - JVince11
When talking about the trade, Armstrong said in addition to Thompson, a 2nd, and salary dump Sobotka, Sabres wanted Thomas or Kyrou, who Armstrong considered untouchable, so the deal fell apart in the morning. But that afternoon Sabres agreed to take a first round pick in place of Thomas/Kyrou. Reading between the lines of his comments, the Sabres wanted Thomas or Kyrou, Blues said no, but Sabres waited because they knew Blues were desperate for a center. When Blues signed Bozak and suddenly weren't as desperate, Sabres came down in price, taking the first instead of Thomas/Kyrou, and Berglund had to be added now for salary reasons. |

I was all aboard the Gronborg hype train. But if my choices for experienced coaches are Lindy, Jacques Martin and Randy Carlyle, I'll take Lindy 10/10 times, and not out of sentimentality |

About the only interesting coach out there for me is Keefe at the Marlies. However, my money is on us getting Jaques Martin or Tippet.
Should have signed AV when we had the chance. |

Blues and Boston are 2 out of the top 3 defensive teams in the league and they are still playing. Carolina’s defense corps is out of this world and their 5v5 play this year is tops in the NHL.
Imagine how good we could be if we could shut down other teams top players ? The Isles were damn boring this year and they played until the end of April. |

Sabre’s had alll the power and they failed does anyone honestly Believe that the blues were going with bozak as the main center ? The blues would’ve gave us Everything if we stuck to our guns

Carolina and San Jose were top 5 in Shot attempts and expected goals for, both offensive metrics.
Carolina's D isn't a traditional shut down core, they're just really, really good in all 3 zones.
Edit: Boston was 10th in SA, STL, 9th in XGF. My point being none of these teams "1-3-1" there way to the final four. They're all deep and their overall expected goals has all 4 of them ranked in the top 6. |

That was really directed at Lindy as president of hockey ops or anything similar.
Lindy's well qualified as a coach. After the buzz wears off, you really have to question if it's the right move for the organization. I have a hard time believing he's the best option, given where this team is at. He certainly isn't the worst. |
