New #Seahawks pass-rusher Ziggy Ansah is signing a 1-year deal worth a base value of $9M, source said. With incentives, the deal could be worth up to almost $13M. |

Sabres didn't interview him from what I read
If that's the case Botterill has a clear vision of what he wants right or wrong - Stripes77
you are right, he didn't even talk to him |

McCabe maybe but lacks consistency there. It is depressing, yes. That's why I'd rather they focus on guys like Hagelin in FA. Cheaper option who can give you some solid two way play in the bottom 6.
Sign/trade for a few of those and suddenly the third and fourth line aren't just out there to let the 1st line catch their breath. - Sabresfan-365
Agreed. Everyone wants to run our top defensive players out of town. That's fine, but the crop coming up from Rochester doesn't fill those roles. JB's best moves this summer might be for unheralded players that they desperately need.

Like I said before, that was directed at Lindy as president.
Maybe Nate Leaman is the perfect fit, there's no way any of us would know. I don't stress about it. Our knowledge of coaching is about as superficial as it gets. - Lunaion
got it...problem is, I don't think botts wants to hire a rookie coach...Housley kinda ruined that |

Im just hoping thats not true. Those guys end up with the same timeline
The team will see progress under them because Botts will actually make the right moves and hey the coach may even try something new.
And as soon the expectations are up, the pressure will create new challenges and the coach will fall back into old habits. That's how shane doan comes out of retirement to see 21 mins a night while mittelstadt is on line 4.

Vogl's source is quoted as saying that Botts' "strong preference" is hiring an experienced coach. |

Housley was the "best candidate available" according to us. We don't know Richard.

There's a lot to this. I was happy with Housley being hired. I think I soured on him earlier than a lot of folks, but you don't know until you see the way they work. |

Housley was an assistant with no HC experience outside of one tournament with team usa, no?
At least with Keefe or Leaman you're adding a guy who has in general been a HC for quite a while. |

I always thought Ralph Krueger was a fascinating candidate, as a coach or president. Haven't heard his name much recently.

President or GM for sure. He did wonders for Southampton in the prem. His contract there was expiring june 30th so last month they mutually parted ways(not really though)

they gotta start winning...botts tried the something new approach when he hired Housley and Housley had great ideas, but he didn't know how to coach the players he had...gimme a coach who can recognize the teams strengths and design a game-plan to play to them |

Maybe. He did coach in the NHL. Fascinating guy and the most unusual candidate imaginable.

I’m down. He’s more a CEO type though - so POHO - not so much a head coach. |

Probably, still a name I'd like to hear in some role here someday. If he had no interest in coaching, that would explain why we stopped hearing his name mentioned.

I know so little about him, can't say.
I understand there are other options, the ones I was interested in aren't or won't be coming here. All the hope in the world that I am dead wrong again as I was with Housley.
He's had success in multiple sports which leads me to believe Krueger would be a good coach for pro athletes. As Kaiser said, I heard he wants in management as well, but either way, I'm shooting at a target with the blindfold of ignorance over my eyes. |

Boston trades Thornton for nothing, Kessel for Seguin and Hamilton, then proceeded to trade Seguin for nothing. Hamilton traded for futures. That team has still been in the thick of things for years though on the backs of Bergeron and Chara even though they lose every trade they make. - Pegullaville
That doesn’t mean losing trades is a good idea
They’re the exception |

Smart approach.
Wait for, "Based on your roster I think we should play X style..."
Seems like a few of these guys are stuck in their ways though. McLellan comes to mind. He'd institute his system and it would work or it wouldn't. We need someone with some flexibility. |
