it's been painful to be a sabres fan since the sabres matched that offer sheet on vanek
- homiedclown

I was one of the “crazy” ppl that said we shouldn’t match

There was no way Darcy was gonna do that after losing the Captains though

grab a young college or ahl coach with a winning track record

there are literally 100 or so probably out there to pick from

we don't hear about any of them, but we hear about 55-65 year old former coaches that have never done anything being front runners

- homiedclown

If they do that, but they wouldn't give Gronborg a formal interview, then that's just total bullpoop.

Not that I think it's a bad idea, but then they'd basically be excluding a reasonably qualified candidate for no consistent reason

Pegula's job was to bring a Stanley Cup to Buffalo, or multiple like he said. His job wasn't to redecorate the waterfront or build more stores. If that's the case just have Rue Paul run the god damn team.

the bills hired a young guy, unproven

as much as I am mixed on him he seems to be doing ok, beane I love

not one nhl coach that was hired this summer, did I say man we missed out

you get an eichel and dahlin maybe once every 50 or so years
let's not waste it on a martin or crawford

I want some excitement during the game and ron rolston had more of a pulse then these guys

I would be fine with boughner or dineen
maybe hakstol

Most of the hiring moves have been approved by us in general
It’s not like T Pegs isn’t trying
Obviously it’s a lot harder than just saying we are here to win Cups

GMTM Fd us
Hopefully Botts has a good offseason,
or I’ll seriously start doubting him too

Hakstol kinda fits
Very successful college coach with NHL experience
He did have a lot of talent in Philly he didn’t succeed with though

And he knows the city, he is respected in the city, he has no negative connotations about living in Buffalo, he is a proven winner, he has experience working under the Pegula's. Am I missing anything?

Ruff’s time being a head coach in the NHL has passed.

If the idea was to get a proven NHL coach, I think they missed out on AV. With the uncertainty associated with being the second coach of a GM with a poopty roster, I'm sure that wasn't an option for us, but still.

To now hear that Botterill is excluding candidates based on NHL head coaching experience is very worrying. Hard pass on Boughner, Dineen was seen as an up and comer before Florida, and then flamed out similar to Eakins. Martin, Carlyle, tippet? These choices are simply not good. I'm not sure why Botterill has painted himself into this corner.

But if we do hire an inexperienced coach, and Grönborg didn't get an interview, that's some straight up good ol' boy network bullpoop. And a throw back to an era of Euro bias that i thought was dead.

Before anyone says "wow, you're mad."

I am mad, because we are not in a position to exclude interesting candidates

I'd argue that it was distasteful at that point, it's since the tanking started that it's been painful...but you aren't wrong.

Trade for Torts!

With Bobrovsky and Panarin leaving and no draft picks available until 2025 (joking) maybe they'll take a draft pick and Torts will be happy to go.

One can dream.

Not that I think Vanek would have single handedly turned it around, but we wouldn't have gotten Tyler or Taylor imo

2 questions:

Is America great again?

Can Jack Eichel be successful as both coach and player?

I want wins.

I don't care how they get them.

- Powerslave

I Doubt Jack and others want to play the trap game and we struggle as his scoring goals so let’s make it harder

It’s not like our goaltending situation is all that great either though

Tippett is an interesting name to me

But i really think that what Botts does to improve the roster is gonna matter more than who our coach is
