Won't be quire Pettersson level but will be close.

I’ll bet you Hughes, J shatters Petey‘s rookie totals (at a younger age). North American heart, with Euro skill...

Very possible. Petey slumped real bad for a month plus the injuries but was on pace to break 80+ points. Would have been real nice to see an 82 game game performance out of Pettersson minus the slump and injuries.

But yes agree if J.Hughes is healthy for an 82 game sched chances are he will have a great rookie year.

Petey’s slump/“rookie wall” was being stuck on a line with Leivo. Can’t expect much from a young cerebral possession centre when he’s on the ice with nobody he can truly play off of. The Canucks always (no matter the staff) seem to struggle with line optimization & it’s (frank)ing exhausting to watch.

Green struggled with that in Utica.

It could have something to do with the quality of players he has to work with... Green tried just about every forward on Petey’s wing he had available. About the only guy who didn’t see time there was Beagle.

Toronto is ruining his career! The Canucks should file a complaint to the NHL!

Some of the stuff Toronto fans believed and said about Corrado was the funniest....

"There is a lot of support internally for Jim Benning."

@JSportsnet says the rumors the #Canucks are not happy with GM Jim Benning are hogwash.

- VANTEL

This vibe has been steady all season/off season. The team is going in the wrong direction for Jim to be fired presently. We'll see what happens next season... but like ASL says, were moving up at least 3 points next season.

I doubt it. Pete beat Mathews for rookie totals. Best player in the universe.

She'd be the cause of at least 3 of those injuries.

That's why drafting the correct winger could potentially have more benefit than just picking whoever happens to be the best RHD available. If the Canucks could ever create more than one dominant, offensive line, then their defending would become less of a concern.

I think we will get an idea for sure but Team USA will be a lot better than the Devils

- VANTEL

You’re right, Hall is better than van rymsdyk by a long shot and hughes will get more icetime with the devils. If he does well with limited ice and linemates, that’s a pretty good indication.

100%.

Also, there are intriguing RHD later on who have every bit as much top 4 potential as the guys being discussed in the 1st IMO.

He will probably sign a two way deal with a team like Columbus or Ottawa. Badly in need of players, and where there is an actual opportunity, unlike Vancouver with all its depth.

It will be interesting to see how the lines will look at the start of the season.

blank-Pettersson-Boeser
Pearson-Horvat-blank

Baertschi if healthy maybe top line?

So hard to predict right now.

I think they need someone grittier and with more size than Baertschi. A guy who can check and turn over pucks in the offensive zone, and then get to the front of the net for screens and rebounds. Kinda like Roussel but with a bit more skill.

This team is so far away from being a playoff team.
