It’s honestly crazy to me how negative people are over a run of awful goaltending and a below average coach.

This team has Dahlin, Eichel and Reinhart.

They have the best goalie prospect out there

They have a really solid center prospect

They have the 7th pick

They have cap space

The question is whether any of that helps this year. Is Reinhart gonna hit another gear and get 70+ points? Is Dahlin going to get 60+ and Mittelstadt 50+

7oa isn't going to help us this year, and UPL isn't gonna play here.

There are some nice pieces in place, but tons of questions as usual, and we're still an Eichel injury away from picking in the top-5. This roster is still short on 2-3 pieces of good talent, and that's with a healthy roster, and the necessary changes to the depth

I've been thinking about this in terms of potential moves, and I don't see it. Any deals involving Reinhart and Risto seem like the return would be volume, not the best player in the deal. Maybe there's a real blockbuster out there, but to me, shuffling those two around seems like it would result in a lateral move. I see this ending with another high pick unless something drastic is done.

He did this with PIT. When the cupboards were bare, he swung some 1 for 1 or 2 for 2s. Essentially cast offs for cast offs that may be a better fit, or bring better value than what their current team thinks.

at this point we could do way worse.

Ruff, really...come on. Look how he took a decent Dallas team and ran it into the ground as well as the NY Rangers. Fifteen years with the Sabres and he couldn't win it. He just can't do it...there are others that can do it. How soon people forget the reasons why Ruff was let go. Hopefully, this was just a way of softening the blow if the Sabres hire someone who is not a primo choice for the head coach position. Who would have thought Trotz would have won the cup with the Capitals? Sooner or later the right fit will materialize...hopefully, sooner than later.

What are the chances they announce a 2-year deal with a 3rd-year option to line it up with Gronberg's contract expiring? Maybe he wants to accomplish a little more in Europe and all parties agree the timing is a bit pre-mature?
