Lindy got his players to buy in to what he was selling

He also showed he can change his systems based on his players

Housley showed neither

The one thing this board will jump on is the constant line juggling Lindy did

Either way I agree that the players Botts gets (or doesn't get) will have more impact than who is the coach

- Stripes77

This is completely right.... When he had the players that could out skill you the Sabres played wide open... When we did not have the horses, we played a move defensive style of hockey.. But still won...

I don't care that she is a female

She is one of the owners

The owners should not have a say in personnel.

They hire people who know way more about the game than them to make those decisions.

The end

- Stripes77

Let's say she had a say in Kane. Fine, I'll give her that one. All these insiders posting how he's ogling the owner's daughter's a$$. Dude was/is a scumbag and was a pending UFA. He gone.

B. F. D.

ROR made his own bed. Just like he did in Colorado.

What other personnel decisions has she/they made?

None.

These are the only two anyone ever brings up. Probably because they ARE the only ones.

So I'm a big Sabres fan, and I might be in the minority but I never thought Ruff should have been fired in the first place. It was Regier frantically trying to save his job. I know a lot of people say "he didn't do well in Dallas either" but did you see the goaltending he had while he was there?! It was atrocious! I genuinely would love to see Ruff come back and I think he could do really well. However, I think there is a very very tiny chance that actually happens.
- kcerone11

Lindy needed to go

Not because he was awful or anything but because his message got stale

He was here forever

If he comes back I wouldn't hate it if it was only as a stop gap and then he took over some front office role

He is loved in Buffalo

They need some passion behind the bench

It was reported the Pegulas wanted ROR traded before his bonus was due and they made it clear to get it done before that.

That's an owner getting in the way of his GM of making the best trade for his team.

The Kane thing I wouldn't know about what happened behind the scenes. It's all hearsay.

People seem to forget that

In 05-06 and 06-07 when he had the horses the Sabres would go out and win 7-3, 6-4 and nobody would care they gave up so many goals (maybe nobody except Miller cause man he was left out to dry so often)

When he needed to win games 2-1 because they had limited fire power he adjusted his system to do just that.

Seriously? This is what you're going with?

What owner, knowing that a player is going to get traded, is going to pay that player's bonus?

C'mon.

and it's safe to say that's part of the reason the return wasn't as good as it could have been

One who said if he needed money he would just go drill another well...

If you really want to build a winner you do what it takes to get the best deal you can

Paying out that bonus the return for ROR should have been much better.

It was debated on here for what seemed like forever.

Seriously, if the Sabres hire Martin, Fans will march down to the rinks with pitch forks and torches..

Ruff is really the only hire now that management can get away with that looks competent. I would imagine the fan base would be ok with it.. I would be...

Ruff gives you, Fire behind the bench, He was always willing to hold players accountable even if that meant calling them out publicly. He has proven that he can win with different styles based on his players... i say do it all ready....

I would be excited at least Iโ€™ll know the players are actually getting an ass kicking at practice if they suck And not days off for good behavior even if youโ€™re the worst team in the league
