Murray trades for Kane to come here and score 35-40 goals with Eichel - Doesn’t reach 30 once, and has issues

Murray trades for Lehner to be an undisputed #1 franchise goalie - fails and needs rehab (good for him for getting it together, and I 100% mean that genuinely)

Murray trades for O’Reilly and signs him to the largest contract in team history to be an annual Selke candidate and 70 point two way center - Doesn’t sniff a Selke while here and goes on long goalless droughts and orchestrated his trade out of here

And you guys wanna complain they aren’t still here? Madness

- OneKaneOneCup

I'm with you on this. I wonder why though, all 3 have turned things around wit their new clubs. Common denominator is here. Is there something common, something toxic in Buffalo that is the root cause? What is it?

We got one year of meaningless hockey from Skinner. Yet we sit here and praise that trade.

If Skinner walks it is another bad trade because it did nothing.

I just find it difficult to believe that they're the entire root of this problem and, in this day and age, no media outlets have picked up on even HALF of those things regarding all those specific players you listed.

It gave them a 40 goal scorer in a otherwise meaningless season minus a fun month long run...

I don't think you'll find a poster in here that wouldn't go back and make that trade with or without Skinner re-signing here

Skinner played more games while the Sabres were in a playoff spot in one year than the previous three had combined.

It’s time to move on for god sakes.

Jesus, I mean at least Skinner came here and exceeded expectations

Come on, that was a franking steal of a trade for Buffalo.. POOO and a 2nd for a 40 goal guy?? I would do that all day every day...

Ultimately it is the players decision to sign with a team when he is a UFA.. If he walks, he walks. As long as the Sabres make an honest and fair offer to him I will be happy. I don't think giving Skinner 8 years x 9 million is a good business decision. IMO we would regret that contract after 3-4 years...

I think they've got to re-sign him...hopefully under $9m or for a shorter term on that number

i get the logic, but the compete window is during those years. If he takes up 9 mil, you lack a lot of flexibility during this window.

At 9 mil, he'd be taking up 10% of the cap for the next few years. The only team in the last while to win with one winger taking up that much is Washington

Then don't believe what I say

Same goes for Vince and gerbe

I have said for years they are too hands on

Instead focus on how I am racist and sexist and an animal hater because I feel there is a better choice for VP then the owner's wife

I also think it’s fascinating how the same people female doging about how if we lose Skinner we are (frank)ed short term, are the same people who wanna haggle over 500k-1mil on his AAV because long term it will look bad.

Pick a lane. Sign Skinner and worry about long term then.

To be fair the only teams who have won a cup have been
Chicago
Pittsburgh
Washington
LA
Boston

Mitts too.
- jochfr

Seriously?

Mitts was thrown to the wolves as a 2C while a 19 year old rookie. It takes a special talent that can succeed against top NHL veterans as a 19 yr old kid. The fact that he might need to adjust and grow (mentally and physically) shouldn't speak to how successful he was last year but that most players would fail in that scenario, I'm fine with his 25 points considering he never should've been used as a 2C this past season.

server

get it right

- homiedclown

Well played Mr. Clown, well played!

BTW - you get bashed on this board for calling her out as a meddling owner. You (and I) reference the fact that she was a waitress (re: server) and now she is running TWO professional sports teams. And some are calling you a misogynist. And others are implying you are a racist for whatever reason. All wrong in my books. If Kim Pegugla was "Ken Pegula", who was a white 45-year old male whose work experience prior to running TWO professional sports teams was bartending, I know you (and I) would be bashing "Ken" Pegula as well. It does not matter that she is a female of Korean decent. It does matter that she used to be a waitress with a liberal arts degree and she shouldn't be running TWO professional sports teams. End of story.

Political correctness has run amok.

The (frank)in moron of a GM. Now it was the Pegulas that demanded ROR be traded before they pay him the bonus! Even though waiting would increase his value and improve the return and the owner said if he wanted to make money would drill another gas well!? LOL!!! If that is the case and Botts went along with it, then Botts is a bigger wussy then I give him credit for. He's approaching Crooked Broadary level. Loser GM didn't know what to do and kept it in his back pocket to be used as a scapegoat for worst trade in decades per Craig Button. Loser needs to go. Total panic mode. Delaware North better up the supply of paper bags to his office.

We got Super Sniper Tage Thompson so we're all set.
