It would be 4 1st round picks no matter what. Remember offer sheets are not done by cap hit, example...

Flyers offer the SAME as Toronto with 1 less year (remember this is just an example), 9 million per for 7 years which is 63 million total. Offer sheet amount is done by dividing total money (62) by 5 or by the number of years if it is less than 5.

So 9x7 yrs = 62 million / 5 = 12.6....4 1st rounders.

Of course the Flyers would have to offer much much more for Marner to accept and Toronto to not match the offer.

I just can't see giving up four 1sts for him right now when our team is no lock to be in the playoffs.

I could definitely see us doing something with them where we get Marner and Marleau and we send them Ghost and 11th overall. They still get good value considering they're up against a wall and get some much needed cap room.

We obviously get Marner for the long term and either hold onto Marleau or move him for a pick at the deadline.

marner is worth way more than ghost and 11th. even with tkaing marlaeu back. They laugh at that deal imo.

TO is not moving Marner. That is just not ever going to happen.

They will be looking to move Marleau or Nylander imo. Kapanen is gone as well.

I would definitely explore a deal for Kapanen.

I’d probably be interested in Kapanen at the right price. He just had a huge year and his value is probably going to make me scoff at the trade proposals.

No interest in trying to acquire marner we wont be able to. I'd take marleau as our bridge 2c and try and get a prospect like liljegren for helping the cap situation.

Why would you want Marleau?

They can't afford him, Karlson, Nyquist, and Thornton. Also talk of them getting Marleau back from Toronto.

Joe P is only 34. I don't see him retiring yet. I'm guessing they lose one of Karlsson or Pavelski.

- youarewrong

i betting this is Thornton's last season esp if the sharks some how win the cup

The only reason to take him is to try to flip him at the deadline and as a sweetener to any bigger deal we make with them.

Marleau is way more complicated than this. He has a no movement clause, so even if he did agree to come here, it might be a female dog getting him out. He offers very little at this point in his career.

Aren't NMC's waived once they've agreed to be dealt once? Idk, always thought was the case.

Eflin throws another complete game shut out. He had 4 innings with under 10 pitches tonight. Hell, one of which was a 4 pitch inning. Where did this come from?

The more I watch the more I agree with tomahawk that provorov might be a carbon copy of jbow. Both of them look hunched over carrying the puck. Very good skaters. Good crisp passing. Not much creative stuff going on. a robotic type of player. This is tough to swallow

I have come to that conclusion recently as well. Nothing wrong with that though. Sanheim and Myers will be the real stars anyway.
