So that means you don’t want him ? - gerbe75pts
I would take Stone and Pasternak over him. So yea I would take Boldy over Caufield. It doesn’t mean they are bad players, I just think it’s pretty evident that the regular season and playoffs are two different animals.
Even Leafs MVP Mitch was invisible after Game 1 in that series with Boston.
There are players that get you to the playoffs, and then there are players that help you win when you get there. I’ll take my chances with the bigger two way forward then the smaller guy. Unless that guy is Patrick Kane who is quite possibly the best American born hockey player ever regardless of size and stature. |

Same reason why he doesn’t have the C doesn’t have heart and only shows up when he wants
You should know this - gerbe75pts
Patrick Marleau is as useful as Okposo and he played more then Auston Matthews in a must win game 7. I know about Matthews disappearing act but he should play more then Marleau period. |

general question #2:
If gronborg was never a head coach above teir III junior A level, what makes someone believe he'd be a better coach than Housley, who never coached above high-school level? - Michael Pachla
Being the HC of the Swedish men's national team is not above tier-III junior A? |

If he gets better at everything, he'll have a nice career.
Joking. Just work on the defense. That wingspan is unreal. Someone teach him to use his reach |

Is he not one of the “4 Premium Pieces” you got for that overrated bum O’Reilly? |

his on-ice vision is less than desirable...having said that, I can't wait to see what he's like with another 10-15 lbs. of bulk |

Everyone needs a shot. There's no guarantees for anything, but Sweden is hardly Latvia (with all due respect to Teddy). The Swedes saw something in him, and if he's good enough for a hockey country like them, surely that should have bought him at least an interview. I thought Botterill was more forward thinking than that. Bad move to not give him an interview |

from what I gathered, the remaining teams were interested in a head coach with nhl experience |

Because he says all the right things. I'm with you on the mindset though.. who actually knows? No one. |

They fared better than Columbus. Boston probably wins the goddamn Cup. (frank).

What a silly critique of Marner. The kid who at 20,21,22 already has 17pts in 20 playoff games.
Tasked with going head to head with the Bergeron line and being a major part of the PK. Scores on a shorthanded penalty shot.
It went to game 7 and never would’ve got there without Marner’s contributions. |

Idc about years past. Tavares scored in Game 7 and that was his first goal since an empty netter in Game 1. That whole line was non-existent for most of the series. Marner has been fantastic but the Bruins shut him down this year when his line was the one that got Bergeron’s assignment. However Bergeron is Probably the most unappreciated super star this league has ever seen. |

He had 4pts in 7 games playing 20 minutes a night against that line and on the PK. Plus minus looks worse due to empty net goals against and late pushes but the Tavares line was mostly solid against them.
Matthews getting freed up and switching roles up with Marner this season puts up 5 goals in 7 games.

Yes and the Leafs also had one of the worst PK’s in playoff history this year, so maybe he shouldn’t see PK time or they need to fire an assistant coach. I love Marner, I think he was the Leafs best player this year, but even his performance this year doesn’t change the way I feel about having size in the playoffs. Marner might be the exception to the rule and lumped in with P.Kane. What did Johnny Hockey do this year ? What about Arvidsson ? Tyler Johnson or Brayden Point ? Marner had 4 points in 7 games but what was Mackinnon’s excuse ? What’s Logan Couture’s excuse ? Sebastian Aho or Teuvo Teravainen ? |
